Was going through the threads to see if somebody got an answer to that. Only found your thread by now.
Most likely -- what I read in some other context in the past -- that whoever is responsible for doing these recommended specs things... didn't have older hardware available.

... alternative: I hope it's not that "poorly optimised" haha

It's the end of RTX 40 series, I seriously think that everyone who likes to play video games should already have 20 series at least. Moaning about it today makes no sense. Everything goes forward, but people wants to play new games with decade old systems.

"itS NoT nEw GaME itS 15 yEArS oLd" yeah, whatever.

You'd think they used the old RAGE engine (from before GTA V) but no, this seems rebuilt on a modern RAGE, probably because of compatibility issues. Can you play it on anything lower than a GeForce 1000 Series? I don't know, will have to be tested. Should it be allowed to play on older hardware? Totally. But Rockstar probably didn't have the balls or people to bugfix to make the game playable on older DirectX. Remakes and ports of games from before 2010 (or in 2010 in case of RDR1) should not be hardware locked. Period.

Makes sense to me rdr2 they took time and resources to have smooth launch now rdr 1 is just a cash grab maybe to help gta VI development cycle.
