New Austin snow area

Today I discovered a small snowy part of New Austin while exploring north of Macfarlane's ranch. What is the purpose of that area? Are there any collectibles?

If I'm hearing the description of the area correctly, the area in question (can be seen on the map) above MacFarlane's Ranch that looks like it's a canyon that ends in a circular spot is used for one of the undead nightmare treasure map treasure locations

There's a tree in that area next to the rock where if you jump into it it can glitch you underground or outside the map. Not sure if they patched for the PC Port though.
