I still hate poker
After all these years I forgot how blatantly the AI cheats at poker. Even having the extra card only seems to POSSIBLY level the playing field. How the ♥♥♥♥ is it fair to play poker with these guys who 9 times out of 10 have a straight, flush/ royal flush, full house when all I get is Aces high? Doesn't matter if you bluff or not they'll ALWAYS have at least three of a kind. God I still hate poker.

This is interesting, it'd be interesting to do a statistic study on this.

While I am exaggerating for anger purposes, I have gotten a run where for 4 hands straight a single guy got nothing less than a straight. Like sure it's possible. But what are the honest chances of that? There has to be something in the programming that makes at least one player at the table "lucky". Because it always seems to be at least one person getting good hands.
Yeah it's a bit hit and miss but mosly in favour of the other guy.
I think the best way to play is save your game and go all in if you have a good hand while the pot is worth taking.
thats the fastest way without cheating cards.. and only go all in with a good hand.
if you loose you can just reload en try again.

You only have to win 1 hand, if you are doing "Beat everyone at the poker table in Armadillo"

Get caught cheating and duel all but 1 player, so it is just 1v1. Then you just need 1 decent hand and you can go all-in. They almost always call. Especially if you all-in with cards still to be dealt. Then you either win and bust them or lose and reload.

It took me a few tries, but I did do this in a single hand of poker.

Yeah thats pretty much what I do. However it is very frustrating having to reload like 20 times because they always seem to have a better hand over and over again.

Can a computer generate a truly random number?
It depends what you mean by random…

After reading that I had an Ah-Ha!!! moment for me, it explained finding all those 'rusty butter knives' in 4 out of 5 containers. It's the same situation playing 'farkle' in Kingdom Come Deliverance (or other mini-games in games), there are many threads where people think the game is cheating, but it's not.

It's just the RNG seeding the next result based off the last. If you restart the game you break the seed bias and will see different results (but then it is a new seed bias). Just my 2 cents.

I never won one single game. Quitted, my sanity is not worth the trophy.
I hate card games anyhow, A waste of time and money. They are not wide spread in my country, to begin with. And illegal when money is involved. Like, Poker is played literally nowhere outside a Casino or shady back room...

Uh, no. You live in a church basement or something? LMAO...
I do a fair bit of save scumming, I won't lie, but even then I haven't found this to be true to my experience with poker. I clear the table in Blackwater pretty regularly, it's my primary source of income. You just need to fold if the betting gets too high too early in the round.
every time i have a good hand they ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fold, gonna duel me for cheating when they've got x-ray vision

I think certain characters have certain play types. If you're finding that they're folding early then coax them into smaller bets in the earlier rounds before making bigger bets when the fourth and fifth card are on the table. If they've put a bunch of money in the pot already then it doesn't matter if they fold.

Just like how you're supposed to play poker... LMAO...

I guess nobody bothering to read the RNG link huh? Not surprising, it's steam forum and the steam brain trust rules. This is the same thread, same whinge posts in any game forum with a mini-game, Farkle in Kingdom Come Deliverance, Gwent in Witcher 3, etc...

No, I'm not bothering to read the RNG link. I don't care nearly enough, and you being the one that shared it doesn't make it any more interesting.
I'm kinda surprised by this thread because I find poker in this game a little too easy. But it makes me feel like a poker legend, so I'm good with that! I really just play poker how I would in real life. What's good about the poker in this game is the AI players clearly have no idea what cards you have, unlike some games where the AI blatantly cheats in this way. Otherwise you wouldn't be able to bluff nearly so blatantly or scare them off the way you can. And most of the time you can tell when they have a good hand, too. If you have a very rough idea of the poker odds and what they might have hit once you see the flop it's really not hard. If you're holding a crappy pair and you see the makings of a straight or all one suit on the flop, you must know another player may have hit something. Then when they start betting big and you can't scare them off with fairly big counter bets, it pretty much confirms it and no matter how invested you are you've got to fold. Quit rushing to go all in before you've really thought about it! Make strategic bets. Check sometimes to get a read on them before you bet. Learn restraint. Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em...
