Do you need a fair % of Gold completion to reach maximum fame?
Yikes.... and here I'm playing on hardcore, compounding the difficulty of getting gold (no aim assist and lower dead eye regeneration)....
Should I just play the game to completion and wrap these before/after the final mission? It seems I also get "penalised" with a generic loadout on those reloaded missions as opposed to using my current gear.
Using Golden Weapons also nets you more fame with each kill, but not sure how much.
Oh, I saw this option, but I thought it could be a "cheat", disabling achievements so I left it off. No drawbacks putting it on then?
Ok thanks for all these insights. I guess I'll just play the story until I feel like I want to grind fame up a bit. I see little point of shooting for gold from the get go since cutscenes do count for anything time related, which is silly, but I don't want to skip any dialogues on this playthrough.
Thanks again my friend :)
Sorry for necroing my own thread, but I just got the Max Fame/Honor achievement. At game's end, I had roughly 2/3 of that last bar left to do (Gunslinger tier prior to getting Legend) despite clearing every missions on Gold and doing a lot of side content. Seems like the half fame you get on Hardcore is a huge penalty towards getting max fame.
The quickest way to max Fame is actually NOT to do any missions on Gold, but rather to wear the Elegant suit, cheat at poker, get caught cheating and in the subsequent duel aim to disarm your opponent (aim of the arm). It nets +50 fame and is quicker than anything else I've done otherwise. It felt like I had to do roughly 25-30 duels solely to reach max fame.
I've loved the game btw! The characters were great and the story pretty compelling despite the clunky UI.
