From what I've read, you can mod either the steam or epic versions of RDR, as the Rockstar Launcher program doesn't inspect the files for changes. You're welcome to mod at your leisure if you choose not to buy the game, or any other Rockstar title, directly from their store.
I don't mind opening up Steam to use the community hub. Thanks.
Manually installed a skip intro mod and now it won't launch. Guess you can't mod the Epic Games Launcher version.
My mistake. It looks like the Rockstar launcher finds a way to bypass the epic client and perform its system verification subroutine, restoring any modified files to their default configurations. Thanks for sharing this experience with us.
