Access Violation (c0000005)?
It's really annoying. It's been about two weeks since I bought this game, but the game keeps crashing when an error occurs during missions, and no matter what method I use, I can't fix it. Do I have to wait for the next update until Access Violation (c0000005) is fixed?

Disable MSI Afterburner Overlay, RivaTuner, etc.
Open Task Manager:
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc or right-click the taskbar and select Task Manager.
Find the processes:
Locate MSI Afterburner and RivaTuner Statistics Server (RTSS) in the list of running processes.
End the tasks
Right-click on each process and choose End Task.

2. Update GPU Drivers
Ensure your graphics drivers are up to date:
For NVIDIA GPUs, use GeForce Experience or visit the official NVIDIA website.
For AMD GPUs, use AMD Adrenalin or visit the AMD website.
For Intel GPUs, check the Intel Driver & Support Assistant.

3. Ensure the game runs on a dedicated GPU, not onboard graphics
NVIDIA Control Panel:
Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
Go to Manage 3D Settings > Program Settings.
Find your game and set it to use the High-Performance NVIDIA Processor.
Windows Settings:
Open Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings.
Add your game and select the High-Performance GPU.

4. Verify game files for errors
If you're using Steam:
Right-click the game in your library.
Go to Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Files.
For other platforms, follow their specific verification tools.

5. Test the game with -dx11 as a launch option
Add -dx11 to the game’s launch options:
Steam:
Right-click the game in your library.
Select Properties.
Under Launch Options, enter -dx11.
For other platforms, refer to their specific launch option settings.

6. Reinstall Visual C++ and .NET Framework
Restart the installation of Visual C++ and .NET Framework:
Open the Redistributables folder (usually in the game installation directory).
Reinstall:
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable package.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0.
Check the subfolders DirectX and VcRed for the necessary installers.

Finally, you are having the same problem as me! Whenever I try to load the last save file or start a new game, an error occurs and the game crashes. Unfortunately, I tried all the methods suggested on YouTube and other communities for two days, but there was no solution at all. I even contacted Rockstar about the issue, but they told me to disable MSI Afterburner Overlay and RivaTuner. Even though I don't have any of those things on my PC, they keep telling me to disable the overlay. lol
What should we do? Should we just wait for this next update?

If we have to wait for the next update, we will be dead haha. I think that the problem is related to the cloud save.. And i hate with my whole soul the rockstar launcher!!! It's useless, seriously! But i tried everything and the error still there, so i don't know what to do right now..

So i decided to start to play another game instead meanwhile with a "type" of magic the error solve itself somehow..

Hey, so I kept in contact with Rockstar customer service, and they told me to send a file using the link to help them figure out the problem with my laptop.

https://support.rockstargames.com/articles/200148686

I sent the file by email using this link and they said that a RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 error was detected on my laptop.

They said that this error was a memory leak issue, so to fix it, I had to run Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool (mdsched). So I used the memory diagnostic tool and the problem was solved. But I still don't know why the problem was resolved.

I would like you to try using the Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool (mdsched). I still don't understand the principle and I'm anxious about what other errors will occur in the future, but the problem has been resolved and I'm enjoying the game. Of course my laptop and yours won't be the same and there may be other errors, but I hope this helps you too.

I sent Rockstar all the files and for weeks they could not figure out why I am having this same problem with the Access Violation code. I have no problems playing RDR2. This is extremely frustrating. I have done everything suggested and nothing works.

Have you not been able to find a solution to your problem even though you sent all the files suggested by Rockstar Customer Service? This is very inconvenient for users who purchased the game.
Didn't you have the same problem as me? RADAR_PRE_LEAK_64 error?
I also have no problems when playing rdr2.

Hi again, i don't know why but i could play very well the Undead Nightmare DLC. So i suppose that the problem is related to the save game of the main game.. I'll try to delete all profile data from local and then try to sync from the cloud again!

After i deleted all the profile data related to main game and restore some previous game that i backup ed in the past and i could load the main game successfully!!!

I don't know if after the last update on December 11 that the game received, the developers update something related to save game structure or another thing.

Glad to hear that the issue has been resolved! I don't think Rockstar will release an update to fix these issues. It's just that buyers are having a hard time lol

You don't need to delete all of it. Somehow the cloud save feature is triggering the access violation.

Just delete "cloudsavedate.dat" and when the game asks you to enable cloud saving, decline. Unfortunately it will just enable it anyways the next time the game closes so you have to delete that file & decline every time you start up.

Can't find an option to just turn off cloud saves completely on the launcher.

Hi,

Yes, I sent all the files and even did a memory test...they couldn't find anything. In fact, I had to send them the files 4 times. I used to love playing this game on the playstation and I am beyond sad that it won't load here. Any other suggestions would be welcomed!!

Hey, I'm sorry to hear that. I don't know if you've seen this already, but I found a method that someone else posted in the discussion. And I think it might be worth a try, so check it out. I hope this helps.
