Because it's technically true for a LOT of games specially third person games, RE series, Space Marine, Gears, etc. Also the original game was 16:9 and cutscenes where made to fit that format and probably there are a lot of side artifacts that are hidden outside the screen.

This'll be fixed with mods but yeah, very disappointing.

Ultra wide is one of thr biggest gimmick of gaming.

Not a lot are using it, glad rockstar doesnt spend too much time to adapt it to it.

Ultrawide support is for gameplay only. Most games which advertise ultrawide support do not have 21:9 cutscenes.

People who say this are just trying to cope because they can't afford one.

This makes no sense.
RDR2 has Ultrawide support except custscenes, just as this. What is your point?
rdr2 would put black bars top and bottom AND SIDE of the screen when u go into cinematic mode and for the cutscenes thats hardly support at all it requires mods to be playable.

Dude, it's a 50 buck port of a game from 14 years ago. At least, everything has to be perfect.

Many games use the area outside of 16:9 to spawn in characters or objects so you would see some weird things pop up if cutscenes were ultrawide when they never was meant to be.

then you know its essential to have them! and that this pop in and stuff is barely even noticeable its way better than black bars.

Not really. Most games do 16:9 so i see ultrawide cutscenes just as extra, nothing mandatory.

Mods made by fans are pretty cool, and are there (or will be there) if you want them. Trying to retrofit every game's cutscenes to different aspect ratios can lead to all sorts of problems during development that development companies don't want to go through for .001% of the population who will ♥♥♥♥♥ about something not being perfect anyway.

It makes more sense for fans to just do it later, since they're the ones motivated to make the changes they want to see. I'm not saying it's a perfect solution, but black bars are a better solution than delaying the game or making it cost more because they were redoing every single cutscene in the game to fit a new aspect ratio.
