c0000005 error on startup

when ever i try to play it just exits with a c0000005 error
pls help

if that didn't work, try:

Reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 sp1 Redistributable package and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0

Try the location of your installed game Red Dead Redemption\Redistributables

I installed both the DirectX and VCRed folders

The game installs / requires Visual C++ 2015-2022 and not 2008.

I found it’s a ridiculous bug… if u delete the save file in document folder, it will back to normal…

Sure, i've already got 2015-2022 installed.

However even the Rockstar support will ask you to do it: "Reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 sp1 Redistributable Package and Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0"

yeah having same problem and did all the fixes and still getting it

I just downloaded the game and the same exact issue. I may just try reinstalling and seeing, but i also have it on epic launcher as i only paid 40.

Ok, i fixed this issue by turning off msi afterburner in task manager, you also need to turn off the rtss which also runs with the msi afterburner. Hope this helps somebody.

If I'm not mistaken it's a mod to use Vulkan instead of DirectX, in RDR2 you could alternate between the two, I'm glad it works for you now.

i had this happen to me for a few days then i checked my nvidia settings and they where set to max i then changed them and the game started to work fine hope this helps

i went in the geforce experieence and my settings where set max to Quality so i just put half way down and it seemed to work
