#1 a lot of the people complaining can afford it
#2 it's $56 here on sale which to put it in comparison i bought the game on release for $69 brand new
So that's $12 difference if you want to play the whole "but the cost of inflation" that is a $20 difference.
At full price the game is ....more expensive accounting for inflation than it was on release in 2018 by a dollar.
So it's understandable people aren't ok with the full price
The price isn't the deal breaker for me personally. It's the 3rd party account requirement.
I can see the price making some sense if there were a bunch of up to date support likr they are doing with Lolipop Leatherface.
The only other reason i can see that price being a good idea is if they have good reason to think the game won't sell well. Then they would need to balance the price with potential customers.
Sort of like the million dollar rocket launcher. They only cost a few thousand to make but R&D is expensive, and if they only make 100 of them, then they hike up the price to cover R&D. I think i read somewhere that if only 100 copies of windows were sold, each one would cost over a million dollars.
Rockstar doesn't seem to have put much effort into marketing RDR. It's one of my all time facorites and even i only noticed the steam release by chance.
This all suggests they are not planning to sell a lot of copies right away.
Seems as though they are treating it like a cult classic.
I'd suggest there were numerous changes, thought mostly ones no-one knows about or have even really seen. From what I recall at the time when Red Dead Redemption was released, Rockstar Games had just finished a very, very rocky release and port of Grand Theft Auto IV to PC which took well over a year to stabilize.
Considering RDR was Rockstar's third game with the RAGE Engine but second open world title with the aforementioned RAGE Engine, it was a miracle that RDR even functioned properly with a RAGE Engine seemingly held together with duct tape and bandages. I don't blame them for being afraid to release another potentially bad port to PC at the time.
Why it took them 14 years to release it is beyond me but I assume a lot of the porting time spent was just making sure the older RAGE Engine of RDR was stable enough to run on modern systems on top of updating the resolutions for a 2010 game.
because its full priced.. and most of the people who take issue with its price are those who already bought it once.. a direct port with widescreen and 144hz support doesnt really warrant the crazy price tag... on a seriously dated game.
Spyro Reignited has THREE games for 30€, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 also for that price, Beyond Good And Evil (remaster) is 20€ with 4ish hours of bonus content that is brand new.
even the silly GTA trilogy is 60€ which is also far too much, but you get three games.
there is no reason why a port with modern feature should cost that much money.
sure they "put a lot of work into it" and "it isnt easy" well yeah of course, but not for that price.
hell currently you can get RDR 1+2 in a bundle for 59€ and RDR 1 is still 50€
what is that?
it's even worse than that... RDR1 is 599 (in my currency), RDR2 is 236.27 (67% off deal).
The bundle is 710.83,- (46% off).
Since I already own RDR2, that bundle would cost me 111.83,- (roughly $10€) more, than just buying RDR1 by itself...
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous.
i do think if you must buy it wait for a sale.
yeah I saw that too, absolutely crazy. I'll wait till a 90% sale now, utterly ridiculous.
