Animals spawns are broken. Laughable huge amounts. They can spawn up your Ahole.
Sometimes the animal count surrounding you is just insane. It's like walking in a zoo.
And if an area is completely empty all of a sudden dozens of animals might start spawning, especially if you perform certain actions like harvesting an animal.
The spawn distance is broken, sometimes they spawn way to close to the player, GTA3 style.
It feels like when harvesting an animal or using a bait the game simply rerolls spawns in the area while you are still inside.
Walking on top of mountain in an enclosed catwalk like place. No grass, just some trees, nothing around but a single hog. Killed and skinned it. Got two more spawned near by. Killed and skinned them too. Got 3 more spawn near by and so on. Then 2 cougars spawned right beside me. One was aggro on me and the other was in the animation of waking up.
Placed a bait for a hunter task to hunt a cougar and got immediately pounced by one from behind. it's not a bait it's a f***ing teleportation beacon.
I know the game was made for garbageboxes but c'mon this world's persistence feels like it's coming from the ps1 era.

Alright, you kind of switched topic completely with "garbageboxes" and PS1 which has nothing to do with the game.
But anyway, I'm pretty sure the spawning is connected to your framerate.

My only complaint here are the wolves. It's constant they are in the desert, in the woods, at the mountains, in the snow, by the river, they are EVERYWHERE. Can't even hunt for a single second without having to kill an entire pack of wolves.

I can agree on the bear thing. I don't recall this issue on the Xbox 360/PS3 versions of the game. Every time I look over my shoulder after killing a bear, there's a bear.

No joke, I killed and skinned a cougar then 6 more cougars spawned one by one right after another. Jumped on my horse rode a little away turned back and 5 more spawned. I could have stayed in the same spot for hours I think and it would have continued.

I've played the 360 version not long ago and there does sort of seem to be more creatures spawning in than usual, especially skunks, I don't remember them being so common. But there used to be bugs that would mess up spawns sometimes, not sure if they've ever been fixed. Sometimes a never ending supply of cougars would spawn or bears in tall trees. Rdr1 was definitely a buggy game at times.

It's like that in the the 360 version too. I played it extensively within the past year on the xbox one x. I can confirm animals will respawn infinitely in any area. I think the effect is even worse, depending on your distance from where the spawner location is.

It was like this on the PS3 as well; I think what happens is that killing and skinning an animal attracts predators like bait, meaning you get stuck in an infinite loop where you're killing 7-8 cougars or bears until you either die or retreat.
