Lasso people and drag them behind the horse

Every time I press the A-Button to make the horse go faster, while having someone in the lasso behind my horse, just makes John throw the lasso again. I hold down left and right trigger and press A (to accelerate) but that cancels the capture. Is this a bug?

Well R trigger throws the lasso and the tutorial says you only need to hold down L trigger, so don't hold down both triggers after you make the catch.

I had issues with this - not sure if it's me being cumbersome but in the end I'd just get off the horse and lasso by foot!
