Red Dead Redemption

Ver estatísticas:
This should have been a remake of RDR1 with RDR2 graphics, features, and maybe even something new
I understand Rockstar is busy with GTA 6, but if so, then they would've just delayed this project and did something better, or had the people dedicated to this project remake RDR1 with time, this game is good enough that it deserves to be remade to be an amazing game like RDR2

Instead... they pushed out this half-assed fast cash grab for some extra $$$

The ideal would have been RDR1 with all of (or maybe nearly all of) RDR2's features, is there someone that understands game development or a dev himself that can tell me if if it would be that hard to just "transplant" all of the features? Now that it has been made for RDR2, it would take less effort and time to convert it into another game, no? Perhaps even with the help of AI on some aspects

After that, you could even charge full price, 60 or 70$ or € or whatever for it, it would most definitely sell, no question about it, a little bit of marketing maybe

Unless ... they are somehow planning ahead and want to remake RDR1 with upgraded technology from GTA 6, if so, and that would be the case, it would be even better, and I would understand the decision.

Thoughts?

It would be incredibly hard. Incredibly hard doesn't actually scratch the surface of how hard such a project would be. You're talking about a full, total conversion in a newer engine. Rockstar currently has almost every single one of their departments, all around the world, working around the clock on GTA VI. This port was handed off to Double Eleven as Rockstar is too busy with VI.

Also, RDR1 was famously so hard to port due to the bizarre code, that Rockstar gave up on a PC port quite early into its life. Double Eleven somehow managing to pull this off is a huge surprise, and would've taken them a lot of time. A full conversion like you're suggesting would take an inconceivable amount of time for a studio as small as Double Eleven, and may not even be possible, as there are programmers at Rockstar who are some of the only people in the world who know how to program these certain features and gameplay frameworks into complicated world simulations.

For Rockstar to do this, in-studio, it would require them to completely halve the team working on VI. It's just not feasible or appropriate for their creative schedule.

We will probably get a full RDR1 remake one day, likely using VI's updated engine. We may even see a remake of IV. But for at least the next two years, Rockstar is going to be jam packed with VI and VI Online stuff to finish and update.
Fair enough, that's probably a good point. A remake of IV would be so fire, and RDR1 too

No thank you. I wanted the original RDR1 on PC not some half baked RDR2 clone.

RDR2 was a snooze fest to me, I could barely get through it. RDR1 I love and will play it fior hundreds of hours like I did on console when it released.
Wtf lol, you must be like 1% of the fanbase saying this, or even less, RDR2 was a masterpiece, RDR1 was good in its time

releasing an upgraded RDR1 with GTA6 tech for consoles and a PC port in 2038 would be peak Rockstar
I hope that's what they do

Just commenting to say I'm not reading anything in this thread

Rockstar doesn't have to do remakes like other pathetic publishers and studios. They should make GTA 6 and then Red Dead Redemption 3 and/or Max Payne 4. I do not want the studio to spend a single second on remaking a game when we can have new games.

Remaking red dead 1 would entirely lose the charm it has to begin with.

However, I will say. Playing through the Mexico chapter really did make me wish it appeared in RDR2.

The red dead universe can be expanded though. I bet a red dead 3 will happen. Even if it’s in 15 years.
