Age of Mythology: Extended Edition

Petsuchos and Son of Osiris
First off, I'm sure this is something everyone is aware of but to be sure, the Pesuchos light beam is very bad looking, for a lack of better wording. A grayish/green beam that looks like a visual effect from a game that was meant to be ran on Windows 95 is unappealing. It breaks immersion and tends for me to avoid a otherwise good unit.
Second, this has irked me since the original. Why not let the Son of Osiris be healed? 536 HP is not that much. If it's too unbalanced to have him be healed, boost his HP and armor. It's a really cool god power but often useless as your opponent can very easily kill him and render your one off god power useless.
Just two things that one should definately recieve attention and the other would just be nice if something was done but obviously not game breaking.

It is unbalanced to have him be healed. It is also unbalanced to boost his HP and armor. He and Bellerophon are already the strongest units in game. (Except for Titans). Use him together with Migdols, Siege towers and Rocs and withdraw him whenever he's targeted too much inside these, or just behind your army. Keeping him alive requires some skill.
Also people tend to send him home when he has to little HP to fight anymore and use him as third pharao empowering after that, for example on the market to boost the caravan economy.

Great advice, however, I still think he needs some tweaking. Keeping him in the thick of your group is smart because when your enemy makes a b-line for him, you make him pay with all your other units. But with the range and dps that ranged units can do, he still is of minimal use.

Doesn't seem like a great idea. I think I'd rather let him get an extra few shots in and have a full HP Pharaoh available for combat and empowerment on the front line than a near-dead SoO empowering at home.

You still get 2 Pharaos. If you can keep him alive you have 1 SoO and 2 Pharaos later on, so the other guys which are healable and will respawn anyways can either fight or empower. Haveing a near-dead SoO empowering at home is an extra bonus.

@velvet: The SoO is not of minimal use. You see people going Osiris more than Thoth (and far more than Horus). This godpower might be more difficult to handle than others like meteor or earthquake (while you can do that wrong and waste it too), but it is worth it. No need to boost that.

Oh yes I forgot about the change to the Pharaoh/SoO situation in the recent patch.
Azarath Sep 18, 2014 @ 2:02pm
It was like that before, if you targeted the right pharao I believe.. either the first or the second one. In the old TT that makes a difference.

Yes you had to use SoO on the secondary Pharaoh to get a bonus one. Most people didn't because using SoO immediately was usually better than spending 25 favour, waiting for the tech to complete, the waiting for the secondary Pharaoh to get to the battle front.

Yeah you have great points, although I don't think people go with Osiris just for the god power so much as maybe they like to god techs more than they do Thoth?
I'm less of a mind to boost him after your posts as you make good points. I'd still like to see some things boosted a bit a tweaked in some way(Son of Osiris being one of them). Also, is Nhidog or whatever the god power is for the dragon for the Norse, can he be healed?

I will point out as well that Petsuchos' light animation I brought up as well and no one has commented on that. Does anyone have any info on why it looks the way it does? I've looked in the forums and I could've just overlooked a post by Skybox perhaps on why it looks the way it does?

Nope, the Norse Nidhogg can also not be healed.

I'm not exactly sure what your problem with the Pet is though, but I barely see that anyways. On graphical issues the first thing I'd point out would be the Hydra's face looking like a tired asian diplodocus(dinosaur).

It's a big grayish/green line instead of "pure" ray of light like it was in the original. I'll post a screenshot the next time I'm in game.

I'm pretty sure this is one of those strange driver bugs that only appears with certain GPUs. Probably Intel ones if the original game is anything to go by.

It should be solved by adding one line of code to the proto entry of the beam but that will make your game incompatible with others I think.

If you're sure the fix is that simple, try to contact a developer so they can make that change.

Okay so I don't know how to post a screenshot here within the forum itself but if you check out my screenshots you'll see what I'm talking about.

Actually it is that simple. I posted the fix in the support forum a long time ago. It has step by step instructions to fix it yourself if you'd like to verify.

Feel free to tell a dev if you wish.
