Age of Mythology: Extended Edition

Age of Mythology: Extended Edition

Is it normal that I can recruit Tale of the Dragon Units in the New Atlantis campaign?
Hi, recently starting playing this game. I don't own the Tale of the Dragon DLC, but I noticed in the campaign for the original Titans expansion that I can recruit units like the Bogsveigar and Khopesh Swordsman, which according to the wiki was added by the Tale of the Dragon. Did the developers retro-actively add units from a poorly received DLC to the old campaign? Not really a fan of that.

It’s from а Russian meme, originating from Vysotsky’s humor song. About complaining to anyone who has nothing to do with subject of the complaint but is known from a TV program. Like saying: just get used to it, or you’re stupid. Hope that makes sense XD

If the DLC would be received better, would You like these units?

The AoM campaign uses a legacy v1.0 data file. So patches have no effect on it. The units have their release day stats e.g. Ulfsarks with 5% armour, and techs have their release day costs

The Titans campaign uses whatever is the latest data file. Thus you can train the latest units, and all the v2.7 balance changes are also in effect. If you don't like the units, don't train them. No enemy faction trains them either. It's funny to take down the Norse Titan with Bogsveigirs. This version of AoM is no longer supported, so don't expect the devs to disable the new units in the campaign in a patch

This is more to say, the developers tampered with the original design, which is generally beloved, as opposed to their own work which is not highly regarded. I don't believe in tampering with someone's else work/art unless you know very well what you are doing. So it just seems to be an unwise course to take to me. I can live with it, but personally don't like the units as I think they interfere with the weaknesses and identity of the factions as originally designed. Onager on Atlanteans I find to be the most bizarre choice.

Thank you for explaining the technicalities, I appreciate it.

The Egyptians in "The Ancient Relics" (Scenario nr. 5 in Titan campaign) train Khopesh Swordsmen

It is good to note, that Bogsveigir was "keept" in Retold in the form of Godi.

I understand, what do You mean and I agree with Your idea, but, I do not really think, that it has that impact in practice, like these new units "damage" or change original design.
