For those having fps issues
Try playing the game in window mode but set to ur screens resolution so its still essentially full screen this seems to eliminate alot of lag.

Didn't work for me, but thanks for trying.

I'm seriously thinking there's a clock issue regarding fps going on.

Trust me, I've done everything.

It's the same framerate with my graphics maxed, and when they're lowest. Same when windowed or not. Same at highest resolution and lowest. Same with vsync on or off with any option.

These symptoms smell of a clock error to me.

What are your system specs?

I'm having no such issues here with an i7 860 (3.8 Ghz), 16 GB RAM, and GTX 780.

With V-Sync, it's 60 FPS constant. Without, it's 70-80+. (1920x1080, all settings turned on/maxed.)

Turn up Shadow detail to Highest, Untick everything else except V-sync if you're full screen - Fixed mine,

Guys, are we refering to multiplayer or single player?

My problems only occur on mutliplayer maps with more than 6 players. The game is stuttering a bit with 4 players, but it's ok.
In single player, I can play up to 6 v 6 without problem, but that doesn't mean anything if I can't run mutliplayer maps.

Greetings

FPS would be referring to the framerate, so using single player is what you'd want to deal with for that.

"Lag" would be what you'd refer to if there's performance issues in multiplayer. Separating the two will help us isolate and identify things. Thanks.

Can you look into the zoom feature at some point it keeps resetting itself which makes it hard to play this is a bug in the game :)

It runs a lot better for me, but still not as good as the vanilla one would run. Thanks anyway

TL;DR : It HAS to be a clock error. OC'd my lcd to 75hz(from 60hz) and it ran a HELL of a lot smoother. All settings.

Reverted it(Like hell I'm keeping a monitor overclocked for long, my desktop was starting to artifact), ran again, same laggy crap.

Clock issue for sure(at least for me).

what kind of lag do you get? is it low fps all the time or is it normal fps with random stuttring or something?

I have already commented on that in another thread. I made AoM work for me.
First the problem:
It seems AoM runs default on 75 hz, you cant have a Monitor that runs only on 60hz.
Also Steam Overlay makes errors.
Disable Steam Overly in Steam(rightclick on Game in library etc.)
Check your monitor on desktop, does it run 75hz?
No -> see if you can make it work at 75hz
Still no -> you are f**ked
Yes -> change AoM ingame settings to same monitor resolution
In settings Disable at least AudioHardware acceleration, vsny, fxaa and shadows.
Save Changes, Quit AoM
Restart in Windows XP SP2 Compatibality Mode.
Looks like crap but now it works.
Enjoy game.

It's a weird off-time stutter that is always there. A random stutter occurs when clicking on any asset that needs to load, so I wasn't taking that into account for my tests at this time.

I have 20/8 vision. While I don't exactly mind a lower FPS(Such as in FPS locked games), an off-time FPS is irritating to no end for me since I see that little jump every single time and it makes my mind go bonkers since it's not in a decipherable rythym.

Thank you for the feedback here Darxio, it is very helpful for giving our team some areas to start digging into.
