Is market useful in single player?

I was playing against AI, and noticed he had huge amount of donkey caravans, i know that in MP u can get gold like that. But you can't trade with your own two markets, can you?

Yes you can trade with your own Town Centres. On a lot of maps it's actually necessary if the game goes beyond 15 minutes or so, because the gold mines start to run out and/or stop being safe.

Using caravans also frees up citizens for gathering wood, hunting/farming and worshipping (if you're Greek). This can be important if you want to spam myth units like Chimera that take both lots of gold and lots of favor.

Having a good caravan line is really important in the later stages of a game when gold mines start to deplete. Keep in mind that the further your market is from your town center, the more gold you'll earn per caravan trip. Losing your gold income/caravan line can often result in a loss, so make sure you protect it! Walls and fortresses are your friends :)
