The devs said in the Livesteam that they've purposefully overpowered the Chinese for two reasons:
1 - It means people are more incentivized to play them.
2 - People apparently will come up with better strategies to beat them.
The problem with this is that those who DON'T opt into the DLC are still being forced to fight inherently overpowered Chinese civilisations which is destroying the balance factor of the online scene.
What this means is that right now, China are essentially a beta-test that the whole community is taking part in. If you're okay with this then that's awesome - the problem is that there's absolutely no option to 'opt in' as it were. You're not getting the balanced game you paid for back - this is what the game is now and older players who preferred the game they bought have to deal with it.
Despite their units being very cheap, they're no weaker than any of the other human units. The unit upgrades also cover *everything* trained in that building so it's ridiculously easy to have Medium/Heavy/Champion units early.
Unlike many of the other civs, they get a unit to cover all their weaknesses so there's no real flaw in their form at the moment. Coupled with the fact that they have easily the best economy in the game (infinitely spawning Gold, Wood, Food and Favour), victories over them mostly come from just bruteforcing them.
They have the best Myth Units in the game - no arguments. Any Myth Unit that lacks in power makes up for it by being ridiculously cheap and easy to produce. The Terracotta Soldier for instance is a cheaper, better Automaton. The Monkey King can beat any Classic Myth unit except the Sphinx via its stun attack. The War Salamander is currently the strongest melee unit in the game despite being a relatively cheap Heroic Age unit and the Vermillion Bird's regular attack is a rapidly-damaging splash attack which operates basically the same as Tornado.
The Azure Dragon is capable of beating any other none-1hitKO Myth Unit which is silly seeing as they can also *literally just glide over bodies of water* which is already an incredible ability.
Having access to Monks means the Egyptians have lost their unique Priest utility, having access to 1-stop dropsites means the Norse have lost one of their unique utilities, having access to up to 15 gardens makes the Plenty Vault look like a joke.
Fu Xi and to a lesser extent Nu Wa come with way too many Passive Buffs. Fu Xi is definitely the biggest offender.
Basically, the moment you see the enemy Chinese player has worshipped Chong Li, you've lost the game. The Vermillion Bird currently has no counter and a single bird can take down a dozen or so Priests.
The Salamander beats every other Myth Unit, that's pretty game breaking : p
I think we should be using the 0 to Greece, its a better scale for broken.
Actually happened to me, utterly broken.
