Graphics not HD?

I've bought and installed aom extended edition but when I play it on my pc the graphics are just like the original game, and not the new updated hd textures?

My pc is 6 yrs old but its got a decent graphics card, i7 and ♥♥♥♥ tons of RAM so i dont what the issue is
Only thing I can think is maybe my monitor is the issue as its a semi old lcd with only 1680 x 1050 resolution?

Sorry but they do not say anything about hd textures on the store page:

Extended refers mostly to extending the screen area as far as I see :P.

Hi its just anytime I saw trailers for the extended edition the graphics are markedly better, or at least a bit updated looking. Mine just looks vanilla

They changed the lighting back in patch 2.0 (for ToTD) because people were complaining that it was too dark.

Some of the graphics are slightly updated, but it's mostly the same as the original. The main texture that changed is the water. There were some more subtle changes to the textures and lighting a while back, but hardcore players complained that it was too different so they changed it again to look more like the original, unfortunately.
