Age of Mythology: Extended Edition

Age of Mythology: Extended Edition

Age of Mythology: Definitive Edition?
So with the recent announcement of all of the Age of Empires Definitive Editions coming to Steam, and basically also confirming the AoE2 and AoE3 DEs, I was wondering if AoM is gonna get the same treatment? Graphics and workshop support aside, the game needs balance improvements and bug fixes and I think a lot of people would agree with me.

So what do you guys think, will and should there be such a thing?

I mean we got the Extended/HD editions of AoE2, AoM and Rise of Nations here but AoE DE seems like a very much improved game so to be honest I'd buy this game again if they made it like that, I'd also love an AoE3 with a workshop, that's the only thing stopping me from buying it on here right now since I don't see the point in wasting the money since I can just wait.

I wouldn't really call AOE:DE radically improved over AOE2 HD/AOM:EE. Sure, the graphics are quite nice but the relatively barren multiplayer features and the spaced out updates are the same things FE did for the latter two. In addition, it's pretty unclear what they're doing for AOE3, as that game uses the BANG! engine like AOM, which is much different from the AOE1/2 engine. I have a feeling AOE3 DE will just be new lighting/modernized features like AOM:EE was five years ago. AOE3 really isn't "broken" that way AOE1/2 were at one point with the OG multiplayer shut down and lacking modern resolution support.

I'm not sure how they would justify AOM:DE when AOM:EE already exists. It'd be pretty ridiculous to market bug and balance fixes as another remaster when that's something that should have been patched into EE already. A complete graphics overhaul would, but seems unlikely.

Agreed, I'm just following the logic that even tho there's the AoE2HD on here they're still making a DE of it so something should be new, improved and different if they are to charge yet another 20-30 dollars for it.

You do realize that the hotkeys can be modded, right?
The AI is all I would want fixed.
HD Edition AI in the campaign has been terrible, especially path finding.

Nah there's also a lot of bugs in need of fixing like the Poseidon lure one. And we're not even talk about minor stuff here either, we're talking about potentially game breaking if somebody decides to be a smartass and use it.

If this eventual AoM DE ever happens I just hope it does not include that buggy TotD dlc fiasco.

It probably will.

I don't know about you but I am not going to be willing to pay 20 more bucks just for a fixed campaign.

I will get it eventually, fixed or not.
It is very relaxing to play and can easily provide a few hundred hours over the years.
I am actually going to get AOE:DE first and it will probably take me a fair while to get another copy of AOE2:DE... Probably when/if they do AOM: DE in 1-2 years.

I really enjoy the originals but truthfully something about the HD versions do not really sit well with me and they can be really dodgy with AI especially.
I like the crisp look of the DEs visually so look forward to AOE:DE.

I just really really hope they fix the pathing because it is so stupid right now in the HD versions.

Edit:
I wish Sierra would remaster Empire Earth on another note. That AI was good for its time.

AoM deserves DE too. EE didn't do it justice, the online was always broken with sync issues.

A new AOM campaign tweaked and with a little extra proper content would be amazing.

Not including it would just mean the game has less content and is inferior what we should hope is that they fix the issues and improve the dlc a bit.

Well. I'd like that fiasco to be fixed sometime. But it seems to be like... 4 years? And nothing? So, it seems unlikeable that they ever fix it. And if that's the way it should be included I'll pass.
