Hero Death
Hi, I was just playing the campaign (egyptian) and the game said my heroes have fallen. funny though, after some seconds, they were resurrected. I am glad I got them back for nothing, but just out of curiousity - how did they came back? Is that just how the campaign works, special effect of amanra, or other units? And sorry for the stupid question

When you have units near a dead hero they come back to life.

Most heroes uses the <HeroDeath> tag in there protox entry. It'll tell the game that those heroes will recover when other units are near them. Don't know they radius it'll do.

SPC Hero units (Tags are SPC and Hero) tend to not drop health beyond 1(therefore having something of immortality thing about them). It was ES's way of telling players that they won't lose a whole mission just because important unit died; unlike aoe2, where if an important unit died, instant defeat. It's really not fun to redo a mission where you know you are winning, and some random enemy unit snipes your hero or (Mission-critical unit).

@WollieWoltaz: I belive that tag is for a FX where if the unit dies, that brief moment of an angel that leaves the dead corpse

No that is the <deadreplacement>Hero Death</deadreplacement> tag.

thanks for the reply, but where do you see all this tags?
and is this behaviour also happening in multiplayer / singleplayer or only in campaigns?

Also units with non-permanent deaths like that are campaigns/custom maps only. Random map versions of heroes die normally.

Yeah, in the campeign, when you hear a hero has fallen, it's one of the special campeign heroes. They will always ressurrect after a short time if one of your other units is nearby. All campeign heros always have regeneration as well. This is to make sure that the campeign heroes are alive for any story events they need to be involved in.

Regular heroes (priests and phaerohs for Egypt) will not give the 'hero has died' announcement.
