Mystical Bird in new main story-- no instructions on how to make it fly higher

Has anyone had any issues with main story part 2 where you have to use the mystical bird to fly to places unreachable by the characters? It tells you you have use the controls to make the bird ascend, but it doesn't specify how. The bird is literally just running into a wall.

I remember that it at some point said that to change elevation of bird u have to use G (if i remember correctly)

there is instruction, it says to press 'G'. you probably just ignored it.

I did read the instructions, and I only use controller so it didn't tell me which button on the controller since the game recognizes my controller and not keyboard and mouse.

Just finished the chapter, it definitely didn't say which button to use, but thanks I guess.

In my case (xbox) and for those who still have the question, it's the Select button for both ascending and descending.
