when does the game get better?
never played any anime type games but im on chapter 2 and i feel its just way too easy, missions take no longer than 2 minutes and the battles arent a challenge, a toddler could play this. does it ever become difficult? dying is borderline impossible right now

It's missions are kept short and instanced to make it more "pick-up-and-play"able. That's the nature of gachas, to get you to login everyday, do your "daily rewards" in a couple minutes and logoff. If you want a gacha with actual gameplay try Hoyoverse or Kuro gachas, though they won't have the fanservice that this game has since they are more mainstream.

alright guess ill enjoy it for what it is i guess

There's a hard mode version for each campaign chapter that turns the entire chapter into 4 long missions, I suppose you should play them under-leveled for a decent challenge.
There's other things too, some parts of the game are definitely challenging if you don't stick to the meta, but unfortunately the focus is on the fanservice, not the gameplay, for the most part. There's still depth to be found.

The first 9 chapters can just be skipped story wise, since they'll be rewritten. Chapter 10 is at least competent. But everything past that starts having a greater variety of tasks, longer, and slightly more difficult. Other modes however are still better.

it's getting better all the time

It only gets easier as you progress, not only because of you leveling up but also because you'll eventually get your hands on one of the new units released in the last months, which absolutely demolish everything with no effort whatsoever.
The only real challenge is ranking in the top 1% in neural sim every week, and that's whale territory. I guess entering the dorms without getting a boner might also be somewhat of a challenge if you're into bare legs/feet. :er_uwu:

11 chapters for story to get better.

but challenge comes from gacha progression and endgame modes, not story mode. to complete harder stages and progress you have to spend many days getting resources and upgrading characters as you can't outskill numbers in gacha games

When I played this on release and had only 2 5* units, Yao (which I pulled 4 times in a row) and Coronet Fenny. I struggled hard with some challenge stages and hadn't cleared them all. Now that I jumped back to the game after many months (I noticed they added some tiddies and ass to the game) and I pulled latest unit Infinite Sight Lyfe and her signature weapon who is very fun to play and also really powercreeped, I was able to roll through all the old challenge stages. Paradoxical Labyrinth can still be quite challenging though and I haven't even tried the hardest difficulty yet. Some other modes can offer some challenge as well.

So there is some challenge to be had later in the game but it also depends of the units you have. Original units are really weak compared to later ones.

It'll get better when they join the 21st Century and add an "Invert Y Axis" option.
