Why does the game allow me to join a quest for level 40 but i get paired with 90s and 80s?

I went to the first "tower defense" mode in the co-op, i'm ADJ level 39 with Lyfe Wild Hunt 5 star at level 40 and WEAPON 40 + some upgrades here and there. The two other players were 85 and 93 iirc. They were doing all the damage while i was hitting for 32dmg...

Why do this? I don't want to be dead weight and ruin other people fun. It said level 40 was fine but clearly it wasn't it.

It's for faster matchmaking, otherwise you would be making post that you had to wait 15min for a single match

Just enjoy the game and have fun. If people really didn't want to play with people who are low levels they could just leave the lobby and search for a new one.

Pretty sure there's some kind of automatic scaling in coop so that the difference between levels is not as obvious. The tower defense mode also allows you to pick different roles so you can go around gathering upgrades for your team or stay up shooting with the turrets and still help a lot while being low level if you choose to.
That said, people really don't care unless you go afk, everyone's more than happy to carry newbs.

Be a gatherer. Those buffs are SUPER useful and you can hit level 5 in everything by the 2nd wave. Then jump in a turret (the yellow boxes are bullets for the turrets) and outdo even level 100's in damage if you have enough rounds :P

be a gatherer or shooter. and hog the turret. you'll be doing more or same damage as high levels.

Be a gatherer in this level. Only come back around 3/5 after accumulating 2.5k ammo.
