Not good.... removal of ENG VAs
They just announced in their FB that they will no longer be voicing in english for future updates...

"Oh but I play the game in japanese~"

Point is removal of a feature isnt a good sign for anygame... . _ .

Edit: Just an updated since people still using this thread... o. O

The sacrificing of EN VA for the revival of the game was worthed! lol

My take is: I don't like they did it.

But I don't like people saying it's EoS, I don't like people doomposting.

I really like snowbreak, and I'll keep playing it. What's important to take away is, for those of us who like EN VOs in game, we provide that feedback to Seasun through their in game surveys and customer support in a polite and coherent way.

Don't bandwagon with people bashing the game for this.

Tears of Themis dropped the Japanese voice work a while ago and its still doing fine not just because its mhy

im sure its a case people just didn't use eng enough so its a cost saving tactic

If they manage to turn the game around by cutting off eng VA its will be a big win. It was just the eng VA was one of the big draws for me in this game... . - .

I've played this game from about a month after release and enjoyed it. But I uninstalled it today after the in-game notification of the loss of English voice from version 1.4 forward.

My wild guess is that the game is having trouble making a profit, and English speaking users were determined to not be a positive return on investment. If true, that means this game likely won't have legs go forward. It's been no were near top of the Gacha game lists I've seen.

But no matter the cause, the loss of English voices was the end of the game for me. As much as I enjoyed playing it, it was already really light on the voice work and f I want good solid voice work for Gacha games as those things are after all selling characters. Thus the work that goes into them needs to be well done and meaningful to me. Not characters defined by simple text dumps, non-animated cut scenes (which makes up most of the character interaction) and an language I don't understand.

Sigh.

I'll stick around for a bit, but if their profit charts dipped more, Im out...

I'll miss Fenny and Mauxir English VA's but game is far from dead. Been playing since launch, gets better and better with each new patch. Besides when you're doing Gigalink I see quite a few of Yao's WS swimsuit in lobbies which cost quite a bit to get.

Please bombard their feedback form via customer support and NOT here in Steam since they don't read it here.

IF you're capable of posting here then you should be able to repost your concerns through OFFICIAL channels directly sent to the devs.

Here's what I sent in the feedback form:

My serious take about the matter:
"After extensive evaluation of voice-over preferences and consideration of the optimal gaming experience"

You know what, I'll be 100% honest here, this is full load of crap. This is just your scapegoat of saying "We would like to save money by no longer supporting EN voices.

YOUR FIRST EVER GAME TRAILER WAS WITH ENGLISH VOICES.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7159YMntqEQ

Majority of the content were in English. Even your CHARACTER THEME SONGs are in ENGLISH despite this game being originated in CHINA. Chinese people were fine with it. I'm even fine with it too.

YOU STARTED WITH ENGLISH AND STOP SUPPORTING ENGLISH. I started this game with the English voice over and I might as well stop with the removal of English VA support. FINISH WHAT YOU STARTED AT LEAST.

Problems without English VAs
The problem without English VA support is that we cannot understand what the character is saying during game start, skill casting because there's NO subtitles. Adding subtitles will just block the screen further.

Genshin Impact HAS ENGLISH VOICE OVERS SUPPORTED. Snowbreak was meant to compete against Genshin Impact. I paid for your product over Genshin Impact just for you to kill English VA support.

Snowbreak EARNS A LOT OF MONEY and is in the TOP rankings of gacha games out there while your scapegoat of OPTIMAL game experience. NONE OF THAT WERE OPTIMAL to me. It's clear you're cutting the cost and just value profit at this point now.

Don't FIX something that's NOT broken. You're removing something that's already been part of. Yes its NOT removed but rather no longer supported but its existence is obviously removed.

100% Relateable Story Telling
How the heck can I relate and feel the lore of the story IF I have to go back being a weeb and read subtitles again and again and be less focused about the game overall. My character will speak Japanese (future ones) and I have to read subtitles instead of having face contact or any other things needs to be focused on like gameplay combat in-game. I've already have a pain playing your main story without English voice overs and have to read through text.

Ease of Access
IF there's something that needs to be READING it's the tide of battle NOT the subtitles. It's applicable in anime but for an action game where your attention is required elsewhere in combat.

Nobody even reads the tutorial mid-game because it kills the fun unless the game does proper story breaks for scenario.

Story telling during combat is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain. This is what made Ace Combat successful, this what made Genshin Impact successful. Snowbreak was even successful with all the English voice acting and now this decision of removing it? The Fogbound Dream content was done well just for the next chapter to be NOT supported is absurd.

EN VO is ♥♥♥♥♥ anyways. Nothing of substance lost. Money saved. Win Win in my book.
Ino Dec 17, 2023 @ 10:35am
i have never used English voices in gacha games actually i play games on their native language .. still that doesn't mean the game is bad, if u have a minority using the English voices and doesn't give enough money to keep it going, what do u think will happen. instead saying omg game its bad, keep playing or let more people play it so they can get more money and invest in VA again.

This - exactly and all of .. THIS ^^
and like majority of game play after the main story ... this game will make you feel like you have "not got what you were promised" in so many ways ... from Troll er TOOL tipped mechanics to mechanics just not being what would expect at all.

Almost every aspect of this game has some way to make you regret logging in.

This promise of reducing input (Aka NOT investing anything into continued development)
is not necessarily 'doom' for the title but .. do not expect any meaningful fixes .. ever ...

Reload anim lock bug? not getting fixed
KD from a boss leave you 0 actions? no fire/ no dodge / no reload / no skill use? not getting fixed
Stupid amounts of lag in co-op? (I think you can tell by the sheer amount of "co-op" not present that ... not getting fixed
Perks not working at all in Co-op? (see previous) ....

so yeah .. not "Doom" per se .. but NOT good ....
