What's a "holder"?

It's one of the effects but I don't know what it means here, like stuff like Whale?

When bonked by a ball, a holder will hold onto the ball (removing it from play). It will likely have some bonus or effect based on how how many balls it's holding. The Whale holds onto balls and then eventually ejects them, giving you $800 per ball (when they're ejected).

If you choose the 'Lab' game mode, you can view all the items, read their descriptions, and test them out, without any pressure to earn money.
