Got it to work, overlooked changing all "3" things to "base 10" in the XOR calculator.
BTW the gold is not universal for different characters, so there are different currentCryptoKey and hiddenValue for different character, you might need to try which one work for which
Funny thing. The gold was easily modified in the demo.
Actually they made a ninja update and it is now. Also, I tried your solution just now for fun mainly and thought the instructions were great. Had no issues with the process - except it triggers an exception in the log file, breaking a validation they must've added to thwart your efforts.
The developer is obviously reading this...the following is for him:
You did the same thing with the topic related to our demo progress. While I have no desire to play games with edited save files beyond tinkering because it ruins the fun, demo progress is a different story. That's OUR progress. OUR DATA. We earned it, we deserve it if we want to use it. And to make matters worse, you hide and make updates omitted from the patch notes instead of engaging your customer base on very valid concerns.
So, I want you to know that you deserve every single ounce of criticism and negative review - include my own, which I will be promptly changing. You went out of your way to make these changes because your game doesn't have enough content to stand on its own 2 feet. Had I played more than a single character and noticed that you repeated skills and made us pay to level them 3x's, I would've never left a positive review in the first place and refunded like so many others.
Shame on you. Maybe if you put as much effort into content as you did into encrypting fake gold in a single player $9 throw away game before releasing into EA like Conquest Dark, you would've easily doubled your profits. Instead, you alienated over half of your player base for what, $50k? That's not even worth getting out of bed over.
