What are those piles of sand?

So far awesome game, even early acces got me hooked, sort of addicted right no.
Can't wait for the update today, so much more money with the draw in like EP.

One question sofar, what are those piles of sand (grey, blue, green, red) that the mobs drop, i just pick them up, but can't find it anywhere. Are those for an upcoming feature not yet implemented? So is there any value to pick them up right no, since they don't show up anywhere.

I am also curious what these are I was assuming they have something to do with crafting or jewels but have not figured it out

Would love to know. Either not yet in game or we haven't reached that part yet.. Theres other NPCs I can't talk to as well..

But I find all sorts of sand colours but no where to see them after run ends.

these are gem dusts, you have to use the L or R buttons on the controller while visiting blacksmith. you cant use them until your "blessing" level is high though so not really missing out atm

And to add to what ComingSoon said, they are only usable on items with sockets. Currently the game lacks a NPC that can add sockets to items, so only way to get them is from random loot.
From my experience, socketed items start dropping from like floors 6 and up.
