any way to remove the kraken?
8 hours of dying to him and I've had it. Wish I never progressed this far into this quest line. Wanted to finish the game, one level remaining, but I seriously can't do it because the kraken gets in the way. Would also accept tips on just how to wipe the save so that I could just avoid progressing that story line to begin with.

Resetting your profile is easy (you can do that from the options menu) but there's no way to remove the Kraken.

Definitely makes a difference to the balance, and if you're up against it in the late game that's a bad place to be. Sorry about that - there are threads here if you search that give you some tips on how best to handle that encounter.

Very brutal that card can't be removed. I understand that having some cards show up that you wish you never unlocked is a big part of the game, and I understand that a Kraken should be very difficult to beat, but there is a difference between locking Ghost at Sea, which curses you until you kill the thing being locked in and inconveniencing you, and throwing irremovable and almost certain Game Over into a line peice dungeon map.

I WILL slay the beast, and I WILL rub it into The Merchant's face as I send him home crying to Resident Evil 4!

I had the same problem (this + the druid/lich). I solved it by playing on Endless mode.
This way you don't have to deal with the crippling curses, and you can focus on preparing for this fight.
When i beat him I had 135hp and 4 charges of items to heal me completly if needed.

Endless Mode is great for clearing difficult mandatory encounters or unlocking stubbornly resistant token cards.

there definitely are some very difficult combat encouters in this game (kraken, druid/litch, white minotaur. etc). that is part of its frustrating charm. late in story mode almost any ecnouter can be like this (what?!? two kings AGAIN!)! i mean the boss fight at the end... but it forces you to get really good at the game. that and luck. luck is key. (hint, blood crecent makes many of these fights a lot easier)

I kept running into it at the beginning of the story, and only finally rid myself of the encounter when I was dealt Immovable Object at the beginning. What a diehard.

I believe "Ghost at sea" is linked to the kraken encounter. It becomes a really beneficial encounter once the kraken is killed.

The kraken itself i find is either extremely hard (aka you have light armour, a standard sword and 80 hp and the lizards are hitting for 20+ damage and you don't manage to dodge any of the falling tendrils) or extremely easy (You have hags wraps, "time heals" and decent armour).

Seriously, hags wraps lets you slaughter what would otherwise be powerful enemies by reducing their speed.

The kraken fight in general? You have to pay attention to what the tendrils are doing in the background as well as the spawned lizards. First he spawns lizards in a wood tile which you should try to deal with asap, stay on the metal tiles until the lizards are spawned or you may get hit.

Then a 'hooked' tendril rises out of the water whilst an electric effect appears on the krakens head. If you aren't sure where this tendril is going to land, stay on the wood tiles. You then have a short period of time for lizard fighting before one of the already up tendrils in the background starts to wave. I find this one difficult to predict, but lets say the tendril on the far left starts waving and you're at the bottom side of the arena. Run/dodge to the top side ASAP. Then attack the large ball on the fallen tendril until it breaks.

I often find at this point that the tendril has finished off the spawned lizards. The kraken then moves his head over the edge of the boat and you need to hit that about 8 times at which point the cycle begins again but with more powerful lizards and an extra tendril poking out of the water to distract you.

The tough part is when the king of scales is thrown into the arena. His attacks have huge range and he makes the other lizard invincible. So you have to contend with dodging the invincible lizard and hitting the king whilst continuing to keep an eye on the krakens tendrils... If you do manage to survive the king the kraken will not leave the side of the battlefield from damage and let you kill it (it still will breathe fire then leave if not attacked).

Game is a lot of fun.
I uninstall it and didnt play it more because of the kraken. It just doesnt worth my time, so I move on to other games.

Which is a shame, if not for the kraken, I will still playing this probably.
Game is fantastic, but this only card you cant remove makes it doesnt worth my time.

To make one thing clear, you can remove the kraken from your deck after you beat the kraken once.

Can confirm, you also unlock an awesome anti-lizardman weapon for the first win, 2 gain cards and a mask that has a chance of instantly killing an enemy that hits you.

Once you are able to notice which tentacle is about to attack and can dodge that it isn't too tough.

I remember when I first unlocked lava golems. That was incredibly irritating to say the least, having a rather brutal enemy added to the decks. Still, I managed. Same with minotaurs.

If ya got a tough card you need removed, its often best to do so at king of skulls. There your not terribly crippled by curses.

But, as stated before, the truely brutal encounters you only have to do once.

I passed both minotaurs and golems no problem. They were not even infuriating for me. The kraken I positively quit the game over. It's a very long fight with multiple stages and non stop adds spawning.
