POOLS
devs if you want players pee their pants do this
make a shadow, or barely noticeable monster pop up from time to time in the doorways on the edge of the screen and the moment player start looking at his spot, make the monster walk backwards

I watched my friend play this game on discord and the way he was checking his back/ sounds around made me think such monster which is just there staring at you, moving the opposite from you direction the moment you look at him would drive people crazy

Why should they do that? The game is not a horror game and such simple scare mechanics would do no good.

I have to disagree as this game is made of horror.

This game is not meant to be scary or frightening, it just has an intriguing and uncomfortable atmosphere. If you want something scary, play backrooms or whatever, I'm not an expert on scary games because I don't like them. I like POOLS because it doesn't scare or frighten me, and there's no need for it to be that way.
The game world is supposed to be empty. Putting in more shadows or creatures would make it less so. It being so devoid of other beings makes any encounter WITH something so much more special. And so much more creepy.

Except the game already has some paranormal elements which in my view detract from the experience in some ways. The eeriness is supposed to unfold from your mind, which is the really unsettling thing because it is about the relationship between you and your mind. Once you have some strange occurrence you can point to that as the explanation why things are strange and avoid truly facing the strange workings of your mind.

I just did this, full credit to Breeding Machine for the idea, I was scared playing, and chose not to watch it again. It's still psychological horror but i just made a few small edits

My first little film too lol
