This could be that the devs maybe science or medical majors and found backrooms and poolrooms and got hooked into it, maybe one is a medical major the other an architect major, could be, i wish there was more lore to chapter 0, or at least an exp[anation of the chapter 0 ending i can't understand how that ending attaches to chapter 1.

I think you get washed away down the ladder you see at the end of Chapter 0 and at the start of Chapter 1
