If you enjoyed Pools, and would like somewhat of a puzzle-based outdoor version of it, I'd recommend Riven. I played the original slideshow version in the 90's and it's nice now you can move around freely! Plus it uses UE which I think is superior to Unity in performance.

Nope. This game is only one which really capture what backrooms liminal atmosphere should be.
If someone were asking me for a good backrooms game, I would recommend FF along with Pools if they want a poolrooms type backrooms. At least ones without entities that you have to run from.
@Unster I would look up playthroughs of Found Footage on youtube at least. Markiplier played it. It's honestly fantastic classic backrooms.
@ZeOliphant96 I don't think Expedition has a poolrooms level. (Been a while since I played it though.)

I agree the effect is overdone in a lot of these games. Some games do it better than others, for sure. I think a lot of the times it's done to hide subpar graphics lol. I don't really mind it in Dreamcore, but in POOLS I turned it down a lot.
