Are we allowed to publish games made using Game Guru?
I recently bought the application (Steam Sales ftw) and was wondering if we have permission to publish games using this program, and if we need to do something extra to publish them (Like the standard edition of ClickTeam Fusion where you need to put their logo on the game to show you made the game with it).

The good thing about GameGuru is that there are no license conditions or royalties to worry about. The rule is simple: you can sell what youmake, no strings. Even though the GameGuru splash page shows when you make a standalone executable, you can easily change this to anything you want. There is no need to credit GameGuru in any way.

Apologies for jumping into someone elses topic. However, seems this will get your attention, i have a question.

I never see any confirmation from Gameguru Devs about this.

Are we actually allowed to decompile the .exe using a third party tool, to change the logo and window name. And still commercially sell it?

I have seen numermous threads about this. But no real Confirmation from gameguru Devs regarding this.

Why would you need to decompile the .exe to do that? You just swap out the picture, and yes it's allowed.

I think he is referring to the program icon. I don't know what GG needs for a swap in that case because I haven't ever had to try, but a lot of programs do require a decompile of sorts in order to change the ico/icon.

Im not sure myself which he means ... Thats why i asked ..
If he means the icon i think someone did find a program that does it quite easily

I know of a couple that do it, and for the life of me cannot recall the names, but it's a fairly common topic with several small engines that default to the engine's icon and lock it down on creation of the standalone. A search should find a good option if that's actually what he is looking for. As for it being allowed with GG, I'm not the guy who can provide an accurate answer.

I mean, the icon and the description of it (name). Yes.

So if you tab out, it will show your icon, and not the gameguru icon, aswell as not showing "Gameguru map editor" for the window.

The first topic i can find about this is here - http://steamcommunity.com/app/266310/discussions/0/152392786911978756/

I posted here to try and get lee's attention.

This is what i want to know... Confirmation that this doesnt effect the commercial rights, as decompiling would normally violate a softwares terms of use policy.

I think the program was " Resource Hacker "
It allows you to change icons etc by browsing the .exe

You are fine and free to use ResHacker to change the icon and version info data. It's your game, you are free to customise it and sell it no problems. Best of luck!

I guess that settles that! This should be stated somewhere quick and easy to find. Good to know. Legal stuff is a killer sometimes.

The Icon can easyly be replaced with my third party tool StyleGuru. The Title not... I tried it but anything set it back everytime...
