Consolidated Wish List/Future Feature Requests
Bill, I hope you don't mind, but thought it might be nice to have a thread to consolidate everyone's wish list/future feature request items in one place since I think folks are providing good feedback. Might be even good if we could "pin" the thread . The current version of the game is fantastic and fun to play but I am sure you will be releasing updates as well as future versions of the game where some of this feedback might be useful. By no means is any of these deal breakers, just wishful thinking on things that can continue to help evole this great game!

- Season Stats for Total Points Scored (on stats screen)
- Season Stats for Total Points Given Up (on stats screen)
- Season Stats for Average Points Scored (on stats screen)
- Season Stats for Average Points Given Up (on stats screen)
- On halftime, final, and season stats, track TDs scored by pass, run, other (i.e. punt return) -- like to see where I am getting my production from
- When a play is in progress, show the current yardline on the scoreboard in the "Ball On" section.
- Kick Offs (sounds like coming in free expansion)
- Coin Tosses
- Ability to go for 2pt conversions, versus just auto getting the 1 pt.
- Like to see option to sim a part or all of the season, versus just single game
- Like the ability to sim in a game to finish it if I have to quit quickly
- Ability to see ratings within a game, versus having to memorize them beforehand
- Drive/scoring summaries (sounds like this is coming in the future)
- Ability to add your own logos/graphics
- Ability to play a quick game versus only season games
- Ability to edit ratings within the game (not in text file)
- Ability to start the season with random team ratings versus always being the same
- Like to see penalties added (if can be done without changing the mechanics too much)
- Like to be able to see in-game stats at any time (instead of just halftime/final)
- Like to see timeouts added, couple times CPU can just sit on clock giving you no time to come back (if can be done without changing the mechanics too much)

Thanks. This will be very helpful as I add/prune features in the expansion pack (which will be free--any content I add will be free).

I like the sound of most of these, but I wouldn't want the game to get too bloated. One of the best things about it is how streamlined it is. One suggestion I have would be to make the league format match the NFL -- this game has real promise to become a great simulation, and having 4 division of 4 teams in each conference could go a long way, I think.

Another: Why not put the onside kick button on a bit earlier? Worried that it would slow the game down? I just can't help but think of the Saints in the Super Bowl...

Agreed, I don't want to make the game anything that it is not meant to be. However, I don't think most of these features would add much time or bloat to it, but certainly needs to be considered which I am sure Bill will do what's best for his vision.

Thanks Bill...any chance we could "pin" this thread to the top so it doesn't get lost?

Couple of other items:

1) On league screen where it shows this/last week's score, would be nice if you could also scroll through all previous week's scores. Sometimes have wanted to look back and see how another team did.

2) On the league screen, provide a way to show the schedule and results for the CPU teams. For example, click on their name and their schedule and results show up. I have been wanting to do this especially to see how some of the teams are undefeated and who they beat.

Hope we *don't* see penalties as a feature, and I would still like easier to read cards. After many games, I'm still using the corners, not the jerseys.

I'd like to see a Hail Mary option for the player.

With seconds to go on the clock, and in desperation, the player gets one deal to attempt 2 matches. If successful, a text event is triggered that is influenced by weather, human team passing rating and AI team passing defence.

Surprisingly enough, most of my ideas for suggestions are listed in the OP!

I would say the only other suggestion I have is Workshop support. I know some of us could come up with some amazing mods as well as an easier way to download team files.

I have no CLUE how difficult this would be though.

Oh and achievements and trading cards. :)

A terminology guide in the help section for those of us unfamiliar with football. Several examples from the commentary that I haven't seen explained in game and are likely to leave some (me!) confused: coffin corner, double reverse, touchback, kneel down amongst others.

The latter appears to be some sort of forfeiture of the entire play, and I have no clue what's causing that.

It wouldn't take up much extra space in the help section, and even a few added terms would ease the learning curve a bit and perhaps more importantly make the text event commentary more meaningful. It loses it's impact a bit when you don't understand what it's saying and what if any impact it has on the play.

Along those lines, I would like to be able to see what the CPU has called as far as runs vs passes.

I am horrible at defensive play calling and being able to see the CPU play calling history at any time during the game could help me a lot!

I would like to see the computer AI a little more aggressive in certain situations. There were a number of times in the season where I felt the AI should have gone for it on 4th down at least some of the times and I think the fact they didn't put them at a real disadvantage. For example, when its 4th and 1 at the 1 yard line, they always kick the field goal when it is still in the first half, regardless of the score it seems. Same thing if it is 4th and 1 from the 41 (just outside FG range), they will always punt in the first half?

Since on a running play it only requires one match, the odds of success are very good in short 4th down situations. In fact, in those cases, I will always go for it and I don't think I have been stopped yet. Really kills the AI's momentum when they march down the field and not take advantage of those situations. In today's NFL, coaches are becoming more inclinded to go for it then, even if still in the first half. I think if they would have gone for it, some of my games would have been closer and I probably would have lost a few more.

It also seems late in the game the AI gives up if they believe they can't win because the score gap is high. But I have seen them do this when score is something like 28-10 in the 4th quarter and its still early in that quarter. I really think they should go all out until it is a complete blowout. I have seen them punt in these situations where in my opinion they should be trying a little harder to score. With the onside kick in play, you just never know.

Another thought....In the Gridiron Bowl, don't provide Home Field Advantage to one team since football championships are played typically at neutral sites (unless in that year the SB team happens to be from the same city).

Oooh! Good one! I'll actually be surprised if Bill hadn't thought of that and it's not already under the hood, but excellent observation all the same.

Grim.Reaper, the update will specifically address those AI situations. That's my #1 priority.
