it is a gamepad type of controller that works fine with other games. I have also played around with what whas its name x350ce to configure "old gamepads" with new windows compatibility following x-box architecture or something like that to try to fix it but couldn't. Also couldn't play with mouse or other method. I just wanted the game to play with my son but seems there is no way.
If it gets set up properly, though, it should enable it in Procyon.
But, yeah, I'm sorry I don't really have any experience with those utilities (except for using DS4Tool a bit on my PC with my PS4 controller, which worked fine once I got it properly set up).
As for the mouse: I made a decision to not support it on its own as a controller because the game requires four buttons to play properly (fire bullets, fire beams, use shield/powerup, lightning attack), and most mice only have three usable buttons - plus having a button that you can hold down while firing (the shield/powerup button) is a very tall order on a mouse.
You can, in keyboard/mouse mode, set the whole thing up to use just mouse buttons if you want, but unfortunately that doesn't help you set up a second player on the keyboard. For multiplayer, it's basically XInput-compatible controller for one of the players or nothing.
If you ever manage to get your gamepad working as an XInput device (or you end up with a newer gamepad that supports XInput), I hope you give Procyon another shot!
