Fishing for Pike?

I can't seem to find pike, which is needed for building the next fishing rod. What bait and rod is needed for it? Is there a list for stuff like this?

Took me a while to gather the Pike I needed as well. I used super bait with the Strong Fishing Pole. I wasn't getting any Pike at all, and then within 5 minutes gathered all three that I needed.

Weird, I've tried a bunch of rods and baits with them. Doesn't super bait always get the best possible fish for that rod?

Not sure if the rates change based on where in the world you are fishing from though.

Best possible fish seems to equate to the top 3-4 fish for that rod.

Yes some fish have really low drop rates, and usually you'll need to catch fewer of those rares ones for the recipe to make the next rod. Still takes a lot of time but simply use the best bait with the best rod you have all the way up until the master rod.

For reference. I know I used more than 100 bait but less than 200 to catch 3 Pike

This is true, Orcas only have a 5% chance to appear with Luring Rod and Super Bait.

I still don't know why they didn't include the fishing tables with the guide, but oh well.

As far as I can tell, the fish are listed in 'tier' order in the fishing achievements - personally I'm tracking things like this in a spreadsheet for ease of reference xD

The fish needed for the Deluxe Rod are the top 3 fish possible to get with the Stong Rod.
That means the ONLY bait that you can catch Pike is the Super Bait and even then you have a 5% chance. And you need 3 of them.
6 of the fish that you have a 10% chance with and 9 of the fish you have a 25% chance to get.
The Koi has a 50% chance (but you don't need any of them) and you have a 10% chance to miss.

Also, keep in mind that Pike sell for 1500 and are the least valuable of the 4 posibilities. So as long as you catch anything, you're good.
