Best party for legendary playthough for both games.
As topic says, what is the best party to start legendary from LD 1 and continue?

A couple of questions first - how is the thief on legendary? Can it tank?

considering a couple of different parties based around hunter, engineer, and BM. Question is what to pair with that core group? Thief, Knight, Monk, or GM.

I had a great time with a Thief, Hunter, Engineer and Black Mage party, I even beat all the super bosses with this party. However I made sure to fish like crazy in the first game given how painful it was to get another master class fishing instrument in World Unknown. Also I suggest leveling close to 200 in preperation before switching over to World Unknwon; focus heavily on your defenses and attack then on your accuracy and definitly get your crits up to at least 100 if not 200. Doesn't matter much in the first game but in the second game past 100 increases the amount of damage your crits can do. Horde the heck out of revival items for the Super bosses of the second game. Make sure to keep at least 4 Amarathine Rings. If you want to overprepare to a Reborn run so all your characters can have Kali rings as well. This is assuming you use the keep items option with the continue option. Save up a ton of cash so you can purchase as many skills as soon as you start the second game. Thief isn't so much for tanking I made my Black Mage be the best tank eventually he was surprisingly a good choice for that.

The value of not having to pay for high grade healing items 90% of the time is always a good reason to go with thief in my opinion. Then again I am of the opinion that the only time to not go with thief is fore achievements that can not be gotten with Thief.

Thanks for the thoughts. How did you make the BM tank?

Lots of grinding. Eventually he was just the easiest one to set up with the clotting ring and boost his defense to insane heights. Magic Defense isn't needed to be as high due to magic not being scaled as high as attack is. The biggest issue is getting Crit to the highest it can go to bolster crit damage as much as you can when it comes to the final four super bosses. I ended up at level 191 for my entire party at the end of LD; and level 436 for my BM and 435 for everyone else at the end of my Legendary run. Note this was Beta. I ran roughshed over most things but Super Bosses and the Areana were troublesome in particular.

Make sure you keep your special gear and the clotting ring and amarthine rings in particular.
