One Way Heroics - Proton MIDI fix

Apparently there's a fix for One Way Heroics that is reported to give it working MIDI audio on Wine, but I can't get it working on Proton

As soon I install "directmusic" (I'm using protontricks) the game ceases to work.

Anyone with Linux/Steam Play that is the same position as me?

I made it work.

The game needs the files "gm16.dls" and "gm.dls", these must go in "steamapps/compatdata/266210/pfx/drive_c/windows/syswow64/drivers".

You also need to install "directmusic" and "dsdmo" via winetricks/protontricks. If the game fails to start (blackscreen), set "sound=alsa" as well.

This also fixes the dead process on exit, the game now closes gracefully.

man, I'm so grateful for this fix... I was looking for making the MIDI music in Cultures: Northland work and your fix did it flawlessly! thanks for helping me with a completely different game!

Hmm too bad this won't work for getting it fixed on the steam deck :/

it should, actually
directmusic, dsdmo, and gmdls can all be installed from protontricks, which you can get from the discover store on steam deck
idk about this game specifically but i stumbled across this thread while trying to get midi playback working in an old rpg maker game on deck and this was the only fix i found that works, so thank you OP
