Breach & Clear
Perfect team composition
What is your "perfect" team composition?

Being new to the game I'm currently experimenting, the 1st team I made have 1 Direct Action, 1 Weapon Sergeant, 1 Breacher & 1 Team Leader.
Just made a new squad were I replaced the Team Leader with Intelligence.
I find it hard to choose which role to leave out :P

2 Breachers 2 Weapon Sergeants. That is the 2 most useable abilities for most missions, a pair of throw-n-go's and a pair of suppressions. Best team I ever had. And the secondary abilities you get every 5 levels are nice, like the half-cover acting as full cover and whatnot.
Hm...I was thinking of having 2 Direct Action, as I like their ability to advance further, which can be useful for flanking.
But yeah, in close quarters, breachers are gold.
Intelligence (heh) seems rather weak.

I chose Weapon Sergeants over Direct Action mostly because they can suppress to keep an enemy still and not firing, a breacher can toss a grenade or do a throw-n-go onto the suppressed enemy. Good combo. Breacher, Weapon Sergeants, and Direct action are the only useful classes. Team Leader bonus is too weak and the ability to get shot at just doesn't help much in many situations at all. Medic and Intel are useless. With a half and half team each pair you split off into has the same abilities, this lets me know that I have those capabilities on hand all the time instead of hoping the one guy out of four is in that spot needed for that specific ability with a mixed team. I really can't go back to a mixed team, it's so much smoother with the one I got.
Good points, thanks for replying :)
Will try it out when I make my next squad, probably SEAL.
Sniper rifle mostly useful in Frozen Synapse DLC?

I blazed through the Frozen Synapse maps with Mk18 Mod1 rifles modded for max rate of fire. Match Trigger and the gas system that gives you the most negative ROF modifier. This lets you shoot a lot more rounds downrange with higher DPS for a minor accuracy loss that can be recouped with the other parts like sights, flashlights, etc. Before I got the Mk18Mod1 I used the cheap Block II rifles for a long while, that is the best starter gun if you are low on money or stars for unlocks. It's a straight upgrade over the starter rifle. Never pay attention to noise stat, always expect your gunshots to be heard. If you really are starting out focus on getting the best grip and flashlight first, don't bother buying the lower-stat stopgap parts. You might want to buy the budget laser though, the expensive one is worth it but costs a lot to fit a squad with them. The only part I incrementally upgrade a notch or two at a time is the optics. Once you get all good parts on the Block II or Mk18Mod1 with high ROF gas system and trigger, you will be set for most missions, then you focus on what armor and helmet you want to save up for.
I am at about 300 stars, so there are some guns left to unlock.
And yes, I haven't much cared about noise, accurary and range being my focus.
Used my cash on grips and optics first, only recently on helmets and vests.
I think the DLC is great, challenging, especially if you have a raw frozen shard squad :P

Not much activity here is there? Devs all consumed with the zombie expansion?

Pics of my multi-purpose Mk18Mod1 rifles, they are not too expensive and are about the best stat-to-price assault rifle you can get in the game so if I start out fresh my first goal is pretty much to get this weapon for my whole team:

And yes I think most of the focus is now on the zombie B&C. Never was much activity in this forum you are kinda lucky I stopped by. Once you beat all the maps replayability shoots down, then after a long enough time sometimes I come back to play it again.

Just unlocked the gold weapons (...meh).
You've dropped using shot-guns for your breachers then? I did so in Frozen Synapse, need more range there.
So far I'm finding the game surprisingly replayable, but then again I haven't gotten farther then Germany, concentrating on mopping up the first 3 locations on all modes (not difficulties...yet).

Frozen Synapse DLC was different and challenging, so Deadline is tempting, especially since I got a coupon for it. But...zombies? Kinda over-used I think.

Yeah I got a coupon too, have until end of this month to get $7.50 to spare and jump on it. I'm excited for it but it seems they changed to controls and GUI to a much worse one compared to the original B&C. Everything else looks like an improvement except the GUI and control scheme and that's my main red flag. Been looking at vids when I get the chance.
Controls and GUI changes? Thanks for the heads up on that, could be negative indeed.
Seems like I have to do more research. Then again, its early access, things could change again.

I use DA, WPN SGT, BRCH, TL. I was thinking about 2nd WPN SGT but I decide to take TL anyway. Maybe in next team
4 Direct Actions with PDWs, with the short stroke gas system and all the lights and sights you want, though they should not matter.

Everything, and I mean everything, insane mode heavy shotguns class included, dies instantly. The only problem is being out of range (no damage at all) or firing on someone behind heavy cover, where your bullets only do 3 or 4 damage even as you throw out a hundred a second, so you only *barely* kill someone in one second.

All you need to do is max Intimidation, Evasion, and Reaction. Accuracy, Health, and Speed don't matter. The second an enemy enters your line of sight at range, they die in a hail of bullets. As long as you live long enough to acquire each target, you clear.

That's min-maxed ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, of course, but there it is.

I try to make my guys look as cool as possible. :I.

Four Intelligence officers is kind of ridiculously effective, too, especially if you focus on buffing their Intuition range right off the bat. Pretty quickly you know where enemies are and get the drop on them every time without fail.
