Has anyone tried this on Steam Deck? Does it run and control okay?

It loads up,but I could not seem to get the key bindings to work properly, as game is looking for a keyboard, hopefully an update will allow for custom keybindings for controllers. Main issue I had was assigning triggers to be the throttle, then is stopped allowing me to assign anything. I do not have a dock so can not try it with my Mouse and keyboard

You might try Steam Input - it can intercept the controls and map them to anything, even keyboard commands, and even for games that don't support controllers.

Set it to Gamepad with Mouse Track pad. That works almost perfectly for me. Then I added the left and right paddles for mouse clicks. No issues now. Everything works including rudder on triggers.

Using trackpad and back paddles for mouse when building, and normal gamepad controls when flying.

Game easily stays over 60fps on Steam Deck, even with the draw distance slider maxed out. Fantastic Deck game, imo.

Yup, works very well on Deck.
It works well on Deck for me, but for some reason it keeps randomly crashing when I approach an airstrip while holding the deceleration button to slow down. It doesn't happen always but when it happens it is very annoying. I am using remote play, the game runs on steam deck and I play it from a mac (because there's currently no mac version).
I was just about to ask this. Sticks for controlling is an option, I assume?
No I could not get the game to work properly on steam deck using a gamepad configuration. I guess you'd have to use keyboard/mouse emulation. Also the crashing has become so abundant that i am now too tired of it to progress in the desert anymore.

Edit: this seems to be a remote play issue only, playing locally on the steam deck no such crashes occur. Wild.

ty this worked perfectly. now if they would just add cloud saves.
I have found the game runs really well on the deck, however no matter what bindings I try, I cannot work out how to rotate the camera in build mode. The right stick zooms in and out but I cannot seem to bind any w,a,s,d or arrow keys to rotate the camera in any way. Any help appreciated
Overall seems to run well but inputs are a struggle. Picking Gamepad with Mouse Track pad gets me mostly there with the back buttons as click but while playing it keeps saying "input device changed" then causes mis-inputs to occur.

Would love if someone would share their specific inputs as a community layout as I can't get it to work 100%.

Right mouse click. I've uploaded my control setup as an option to down load and use.

I couldn't get it to work with the controls described above. It's as though it would never recognize the left stick. The in-game control setup says the left stick is set to the directions, same as WASD, but it doesn't respond to them. If I try changing the controls in-game, it immediately chooses whatever direction the stick was last pointing as if I was still pressing it. With the mouse controls set to either left stick, right stick, or D pad, they never worked, making the vehicle editor unusable.

The only thing I could get to work was keyboard and mouse. With the left stick set to WASD and analog emulation enabled, it was kind of okay. I could use the touch screen for vehicle editing, but it's really hard to place parts precisely. The trackpad was functional but functionally useless, since it wouldn't stay put no matter how steady I was with my finger.

I gave up and went back to playing on PC.
