There is a post further down this page at the time of writing which links to it.
Also, annoyingly, applying this patch means that you will have to start over again if you started the game before you patched it. The save file from the unpatched version of the game will not properly work with the patched version. The carpenter's shop inventory not showing is a symptom of this.
You see, doing the following is known to cause problems.
1) Install the game.
2) Start a new game.
3) Save the game.
4) Apply the patch.
5) Load the save game that you created before you applied the patch.
This manifests as some shops not showing their full inventory. Gordon's shop is empty and Aleisha's shop only has 3 items. Adel's and Gace's shops look fine. But if you are not getting the option to buy the animals from the signs in sheds on your farm, then that indicates that there is a bigger problem.
Usually, the way this works is that the game stops you going into the animal and egg sheds until you meet Evvie. The day after you meet her, then you will find a harpy on your farm and this introduces you to the whole animal thing. Once you have seen the tutorials and named the harpy, then you can go into the sheds on your farm and check the signboards next to the empty stalls to buy animals.
My experience here shows that the following works fine.
1) Install the game.
2) Apply the patch.
3) Start a new game or load a saved game created from a new game that you started after you patched the game.
But if this is not working for you then unfortunately you will have to wait to see if someone is better able to help you.
