I would suggest doing as the patcher suggests and start up the game and while the game is running start up the patcher. It should automatically populate the pathname. Once you see that the pathname is populated shut down the game and then click the apply patch button
It can take a while between when you close the game window and when the game's process actually exits. You can use Task Manager to be sure.
Otherwise, try waiting a minute or two after you close the game before you apply it.
You can always get the path from Steam itself. If you right click on the game in your library, hover over manage and then select browse to game, it will open the location in Explorer. You can then get the full path from the address bar.
If you can, try installing it in the library on your Windows drive. This should give you the answer to that question.
make sure your steam game version is english, otherwise the patch wont recognize
