What is the purpose of waypoints?
I just bought a waypoint expecting it would let me set my machines to excavate at a certain depth. However, all it does is center my screen for the cost of 512 hell gems. Is there any functionality in it, or does it just bring your screen to the other waypoint?

*edit I also believe you can use it to get the seth brundle achievement

try placing another waypoint

I just placed another one and I still am confused on its applications, I don't understand why teleporting somewhere else would be useful in a game like this. I'm currently saving up for an annihilator but I don't think they would be useful late game (Thanks for the advice btw)

teleports between waypoints, you need 1 to complete the game as use only one still technically counts as teleporting.

do you mean the achievement, or is it required for story progression?

it's pretty usefull if your factory is far from the rock
