Cultist Quest *Spoilers*
Ok...so, just met the big octopus thing for the first time....and am in a position to escape the dungeon or keep fighting the thing. Am I missing something, because I am well geared and it looks like the thing has far more heatlh than I can whittle down even with AGI of 12 and a recurve with D6 shock and D6 frost. More to the point, I have almost run out of arrows. I am tempted to see if the trick involves hitting the dungeon door wheel to the right of the octopus but am worried it will lock me in instead of helping me out. This is currently my best run to date and don't want to die 8being stupid*. Am so close to unllocking knowledge and all sorts of stuff. Anyways, currently escaoed the room and in the hallway...and in the decide mode of 'fight or flight'

On a related note....what is 'strong enough' to take on the kin? I don't want spoilers...just some examples of a build that should be successful. After feeling inviincible and thinking I couldn't really improve my characters equipment or status anymore...the octopus thing has given me quite a scare at how quickly it started overwhelming me and I had to run.

Escaped, had a good run and was 1 scroll, 2 potions, and just a couple amullets and rings from getting each of those knowledge heritages. Then I critically missed my target and hit myself with my own arrow and met the most inglorious end, ever. Love this game and hate it at the same time.

In all seriousness, though, what is the strats people use to beat octopus dude and how will I know when I am 'ready' to take on the king? Part of me wishes I had just gone for the king on this run and maybe cared too much about getting more heritages.

I have beaten him twice, The fire spell hit him very hard as a mage and as an archer I used a scroll of invisibility(maybe two of them) then aimed shot over and over, afterwards multishot helped alot with the extra monsters.

I tried him with a melee character and failed. He has a knockback effect so if you try him with melee make sure to have knockback immune.

A Blessed Amulet of Freedom is an excellent find (extra turn every turn), I was wearing this when I beat him with the archer and made it to level 20 every time I have found one.

The lever near him just opens and closes the entrance to the room.
