Learning arcane spells shatters amulets?

Intended, Arcane Spells need an amulet of any type and shatters it to learn.

You can even learn them with useless ones like Asphyxia, but one lapse of judgement and you'll shatter your blessed FA or something important :P

I see, I hate arcane spells a lot. I was on my heroic run fighting king using divine shield unknowing to the shatter effect and broke my blessed amulet of free action and almost lost the run haha

You can just drink booze, it has the same effect, replenishable and doesn't break anything.

So, let me see if I understand this correctly... you wear any amulet, read the arcane tome, then it shatters the amulet, you learn the arcane spell... then what? I wear any amulet, and I can cast that arcane spell, but does casting the spell run the risk of shattering the amulet it’s bonded to?

You can cast the spell with any amulet, risk to wear the amulet is still there but you can use cheaper amulets to cast the spell.

Makes sense. So you're channeling the spell through the amulet.

also not to overlook - having a blessed amulet on will trigger the learnt spell like a blessed amulet would cast it. Why that is important...? you can use identify spell with a blessed amulet of any type to upgrade it to blessed version 16% chance... so... outcast,, free action... you gather it, sell it to a merchant, kill it, get it back as unidentified ... then identify it with a blessed amulet nad you have good chance for jackpot.
other trick to cast enhancment, or transmute with junk amulets before selling. breaking them has low chance but can raise their values.... timers also tied to the amulet.
last but not least if amulet gets damaged it gets worn first and can be repaired with bless scroll... so don`t risk your best blessed amulet but rest can be used for good cash flow or cheap shield.
