No, damage from agi and str isn't capped. If you have 19 str (+12) you will hit for an extra 12d3 damage with Crushing Blow.
Thanks, I thought this was the case. But that means also that there is probably a mistake with altren kiss. Because a normal repeater does 2D6 but altren's kiss does D6+D3.
D6+D3 can roll between 2 and 9, so it has a higher possible damage and averages higher than a 2D3. 2D6 is highest damage because it can be between a 2 and a 12 and has highest average and top damage.
I think Logar's Blade is now 2D6, and has always had crushing and slashing on it, so it's pretty awesome for a warrior.
I was assuming it was something like that, but I also read the damage from the repeater wrong as I had in mind that it was 2D6 and not 2D3.
But thank you for the easy understandable explanation.
That said, I'd like to especially underline the “consistency” aspect of multiple dice compared to single dice. For example 2d6 which the game rolls so often doesn't just result in an average of 7, it results in 7 every 6th roll on average and rolls 2 or 12 once per 36 rolls each (again, on average). So don't look at 2d6 as just “a random number between 2 and 12” it's a very noticeably shifted distribution. In fact a huge part of the balance of this game stems from that shift in distribution. But that's long and I'm not in the mood for walls...
There was a prison boarfgame where you haf to randomly get one of the eleven cells. You rolled 2d6. Creator somehow missed that its not 2-12 number generator.
While games like catan actually use 2 12 and 7 as main part of strategy as those numbers are special.
