Book of Fading Memories - what's the point?
"Every turn spent resting with this book makes you forget a random knowledge".
So, is there a reason not to toss this thing into the nearest wall?
Charms, unlike potions, scrolls, wands, tomes, and jewelry, don't hide their true nature behind random appearance. I get the scroll of amnesia, it's supposed to be a trap, but this thing isn't going to "catch" any player more than once.

So... what's was it made for?

Edit: Found an answer. That thing can erase talents and return talent points. Even gives "the prodigal son" if you erase enough.

Edit 2: That's a scary book to lug around. Just picking it up to reset the dungeon gives me the creeps ("what if I forget to drop it?" kind of creeps). Maybe it'd be a good idea to recode it to activate on use?

Well that's very useful information. I guess I will have to look for one.

Keep in mind that it DOES erase other knowledge as well. Including spells.
I think it behaves kinda weird... I THINK it erased the knowledge of some items that were in my inventory at the time. The items themselves remained IDed, but the same kind of items I found later were unknown.

I have a strong suspicion that this is how the scrolls of amnesia behave as well. It's just that no one bothered to read enough of them to learn that.

I suspected as much but luckily I have a scroll of knowledge, the only thing I'm worried about is that the lost knowledge goed over to next game.

You mean the whats-its-name charm? Scroll of knowledge is a consumable item and one isn't going to be enough.

P.S. Something tells me that the book doesn't revert any heritages. It DID reactivate my knowledge counters on the heritage page though. Which IMHO is a good thing since that lets me know when to start reading scrolls of knowledge to regain my lost spells.

Yes I meant the charm. And that the knowledge counters are reactivated is a good thing.
