Back after long break: some questions on mechanics and quests
Hi all. I've been playing this classic since way back in about 2014 iirc, but I've been away a while and a lot has changed. I have a few questions I hope you can help me with.

1) What is a persuasion check and when do they happen?
2) What does the slow and steady talent do?
3) How tough do you have to be to do the bat beer cave quest?
4) Please can I have a hint (doesn't have to be full answer) how to get the stash quest moving?
5) Please can I have a hint how to get the tragic quest moving? I've found a book so far, but that's it.

Thanks

Ooh, and what are feathers?

1) Persuasion checks happen when you talk to merchant hirelings with a female character. On a successful charisma check, the hireling joins you. However, I believe everyone else goes hostile.

2) You can check in the manual, but IIRC it gives you aimed shot and steady shot at the same time, but only with crossbows (not repeaters).

3) Fairly tough. The boss doesn't have enormous damage output, but he is very tanky.

4) Can't help with this one. I left like you, and then when I came back for some reason the quest was already complete for me.

5) You need to submit the book to the Artisans' Guild in town to continue.

Feathers are a mystery to me too. I guess they must have been added very recently.

realistically bierkoff can be beaten as early as lv12 if you got a good mage start, and idk 15 for archers?

6 beers means you get a metric ton of sustain so as long as you can actually damage him you'll be ok

godros in the discord just found out feathers stack to 12, so it's probably for crafting the legendary bolts (and i thought archer would get even better early game lol)

If you're referring to the ones in the quest, doesn't that entail shooting yourself up six levels without gear progression?

the reason i said lv12 is because you're past lv10 which is the last difficulty spike of the game (monsters start spawning), so once you've stablized beyond lv10 you kinda just want to rush to lv20 for stats+talents asap (unless your gear/enchantment is still lacking, which will pretty much never happen for a mage, might happen to an archer and somewhat common for melee)

also you can grab the beers whenever, since you arent forced to fight him (heck you can even pick the chests behind him safely if you just cancel out of the conversation and dont stand in aura radius)

typically once my runs get above lv10 i try to grab an advanced literacy to get access to the sewer's dungeon, drink beers to powerlevel (ideally from 14 to 20) and then learn all my talents from there (guaranteed well + 2 altars and something like 4 targets+3 strawman if you need them)
