What is a good way of killing a demon rat? Especially after it is triggered, when will it untrigger? Lost a number of high level characters to them.
On another note, why dont crossbow kills trigger the counter for the Draining the Swamp achievement?

Won't untrigger afaik, so don't pick up the cap until fully prepared.
To kill a demon rat: I think it's borderline impossible with melee, requires a ton of shifting wands for an archer, and easy as cake for a mage. The hateful aura has I think 4 radius so as long as you're not in it you can kill the rats around him then just bombard him to death. Archers have an easy time too with a disabling enchantment proc.
If the crossbow has legendary status then it's probably bugged.
