Hello. There is a thread in general discussion about this, but the OP has put (solved) in its title, because it finally worked for him/her.

These bibles appeared when I reentered the area on pedestals, where I previously put two bibles. When I removed them, it turned out they are duplicates, because their originals were still there on the pedestals. These duplicates appear like this on the table, and can't be put on pedestials.

I (we) know that there must 23 candles lit. No one in the thread in general discussion has figured out an order, and most people randomly solved this puzzle. None of the posted approaches have worked for me. I assume there is a connection with lanterns lighting up when bibles are put on each pedestal, but it is difficult to figure out what to look for, when I don't know whether the bible duplicates are breaking this puzzle to begin with.

Hi Fishzerg, do you know where the other bible came from? & when you placed the bible down, you saved the game, then loaded & it duplicated?

Is that the main issue you're having apart from how the puzzle works?

Hey Pete,

The other bible came from harbour area. I can't pinpoint exactly when the duplication happened, but it was after wandering around in other areas, so the level had to load.

I can't really tell what the main issue is, I can't solve the puzzle, and I am not sure if it is related to bible duplicates or not. Lighting 23 candles doesn't work for me, and I have followed varying orders posted in walkthroughs, which haven't worked either. It's difficult to understand whether this is a bug, or actually a very tricky puzzle you guys made up :)

The bible duplication will definitely be a bug however its probably just a visual bug & the puzzle will still work.

You have to place the bible on each alter for it to work

Allright, but the question then is whether it has to be a bible found in the mine, or any bible? Because I collected all, and they are mixed together in a shelf?

I can then confirm that placing the bible on each pedestial does not work with 23 candles lit :(

I have six bibles in total and have tried placing them all at the same time and lighting 23 candles, tried switching their order, tried placing only 1 of them on each alter after lighting the candles and did this with all six, tried placing two random bibles, nothing works.

My quest list shows 4 of 5 parts done, with the last one missing. Seeing other playthroughs its "23 candles".

Hi Fishzerg, I'm not sure what the reason could be as we've fixed anything that could have been possibly related to the puzzle.

Would you be able to send us your save game files so that we can take a look at your game?

They will be located in the place where you install your Steam Games - Then Ether One / Binaries / Win 32 and the save files should be there (6 of them max).

I've placed the Bible on every alter (does it have to stay on the alter where the 5 lanterns appear below it?), lit 23 candles in various combos and it's not solved it.

This is maddening. I'm currently playing this on PS4, and the game is effectively broken. I've already placed the bible on a pedestal, and blew out the candles and tried re-lighting some of them. Then I went to Pinwheel Harbour to take a loot at the newspaper there and confirm the number of dead miners. At first, I thought I might need a bible for every pedestal, so I brought a second bible and placed that on a pedestal.

Now that I'm back in the room, the lanterns only go on when a bible is on a corresponding pedestal. Because I only have 2 bibles, I can only have 2 sets of lanterns on at a time. The others are shut off-- I'm not sure if this would otherwise have happened if I hadn't introduced a second bible, blown out all of the candles, re-lit some, left, and come back.

In any event, I've tried lighting several combinations of 23 candles, including with the middle set of candles lit, and the puzzle won't complete.

The game is effectively bugged & stuck, and uncompleteable unless I'm to start over from scratch. I initially was enjoying this game, but it's been one of the buggiest games I've ever played, and it's slowly sucking any enjoyment out of it. What I'd initially intended to give 4/5 stars, has certainly lost a star rating and is on the verge of losing at least one more star if this bug can't be resolved or fixed. It's really shameful how buggy this game has slowly proven itself to be.

Please get this fixed, devs.

Franklyn, or anyone else who finds their way here ready to write a scathing review like I was, did you try placing the bible on ALL the alters...I missed one as I was only looking the ones clustered together. I was going insane and searching the internet until I found a comment of the number of alters it needs to be placed on. (I was able to use the same bible.) Hopefully that will help anyone who is ready to throw something. :)

Yes, I did try that, and it didn't work. I luckily had an earlier save, but I had to go back and replay a large chunk of the game.

Playing on PS4 here and I got it to work finally. Grabbed ribbon, grabbed matches, input the code to open bible area. Once I triggered her speech, I then walked down to grab the bible to place it on a pedestal. One thing I noticed was that if you place the bible on the left podium next to where you walk in THE LANTERNS BELOW LIGHT UP! If you take it off they turn off! She spoke after I placed the bible.. then lit 23 candles (the ones on level 480 were blown out already) I read on a few other areas that you are to light the center 5 candles.. I decided to try to get to 23 without them and boom! Got it!!
