How to enable Rift Support?
Hi,

haven't found a way to enable Rift support.
Not in the options, -vr isn't working.

What have I missed?

Thanks

Trying to figure it out myself. The devs weren't 100% sure that rift support would be in on day one, so could be it's not included yet.

Hi,
thanks to Ananas4: Set Display to extended mode, then start the game. It detects the rift ans switches to VR mode.
But at the moment it is not really playable...
Starting a new game results in a black screen.
Because of the DK1 resolution you can't read anything in the Rift,
but because it is not cloned, you can't take the Rift down and read on the monitor...

Also the framerate seems to be pretty low (avg. 40 fps is by far not enough).
I had a short E-Mail contact to the developers, they are working on the issues right now.
I'll wait for an update, since this game is pretty promising :)

Thanks, I found the txt file in the game's folder right after I read your answer. Tried it in extended mode, but with the rift as the main display. Has to be display n. 2.
Anyway, I just played for around two hours with the Rift and I think it's alright. I'm getting mostly 60fps with a few hiccups here and there, and the feeling of being there is really striong in this game. But yeah, resolution is still a problem. If they would let us set the res to 1080p, that would already make it a lot better. Then add a bigger font, a dark background when text is displayed and it should be perfectly playable.

It would help if you gave us some info on your system when bringing up fps, e.g,, GPU, CPU, RAM amount, etc.
Two different machines can handle this game, and any game, completely different. :P

On the games website in the FAQ it specifically says:
Q: Does Ether One have Oculus Rift Support?
A: Yes, Ether One comes with full Oculus Rift support and can be enabled in-game in the options menu.

The only reason i got this game is because i want to use my rift, yet i cannot find any settings in game to do so. Zulu, did you manage to get head tracking? I tried the extended display but it launched without head tracking. Not sure if it was set to 2nd display though il try that next. Hopefully this gets sorted out fast, im JONESING to get back in the rift!

Yeah, headtracking worked immediatly for me. Nor sure what your problem could be. Try plugging the Rift's USB into another port. That has fixed headtracking issues for me in the past. Does the tracking work in other games?
And once you get it to work, remember to start a new game normally up to the point where you can walk around, then start it in rift mode. You'll get a black screen in the intro sequence otherwise. At least I did.

And always remember that you have to log into facebook while using the Rift from now on :D.

Huh well i'v been messing around and still no luck with the head tracking. I have been using my rift for months now on every game i get my hands on and the head tracking has worked fine. Hopefully one of the devs will step in soon to clear it up. But yah... this whole facebook business shook me to the core when i first heard about it.. I really hate social networking and and am honestly abit deppressed over the fact that facebook will now have their grubby mitts all over the development of the rift. But to be honest, being in Palmers position I would most likely have done the same. HOPEFULLY they stay true to their original plan and make the rift with games in mind. Not some shallow social networking virtual reality selfie ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Im rooting for Valves HMD now.

What? Valve is working with OculusVR. The previous HMD they built was used to test out so they could give out information to OculusVR, and anyone else who wanted it.
Unless plans have changed? I'm interested in knowing if they have.

Pretty large disappointment here devs. I get this game hoping (in vain it seems) that this will be my first full game for the oculus --- the website for the game states "Ether One comes with full Oculus Rift support and can be enabled in-game in the options menu." Buy the game... install...run... and oh, wait... can't see that option-am I missing something? I know there are little tricks I could pull to make it somewhat playable, but "full rift support"
Swood dood Mar 27, 2014 @ 9:12pm
Awe your right, valve was just supporting oculus with their hmd. Bummer. I read an article that was comparing the rift experience to valves vr experience and it made it sound like they were seperate projects all together. Owell guess facebookVR is all I can look forward to.

But back on topic... A response from a developer on roughly when we will see "full rift support" would be nice. Was really hopeing i would be able to RIFT something until the 30th when ESO launches...

hello? devs? some kind of update please!

Add in Rift support, or give me my money back.
[WDT]Stele Mar 30, 2014 @ 1:07pm
Was so excited to play this - bought it and installed it while I was on vacation. Came home, made sure my Rift was powered on... and no apparent vr support. Either they need to fix their website or fix the game.
AtomBrain Mar 30, 2014 @ 2:38pm
Not sure what your problem is, guys. Works flawlessly for me. Sucks that there's no simple option for it in the menu and that you have to be in extended mode, but it does work.
[WDT]Stele Mar 31, 2014 @ 6:26am
You're right, Zulu - the desktop has to be in extended mode and it does appear to work automatically in that case (I don't usually have my Rift set to extended).

A couple of things I couldn't figure out:
1. how do you turn around? (since you always walk in the direction you're looking at)
2. how do you rotate objects while examing them?
3. how do you get it to work in non-vr mode once you've used vr mode? I've turned off the OR and disabled it in display settings, but the game still launches with an invisible window.
